i have not seen much new KT-45 talk as of late, so i am taking the opportunity to sing (or type) some current praises of the absolutely awesome KT-45. this is my first Z and right from the get-go i was hooked. almost 2 years later the love for my KT-45 just continues to grow. slowly but surely i am playing my other amps less and less, and am truly starting to realize the genius of the good Dr. thanks Doc!!!!!! can i get an amen and a hallelujah (and a yeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaw!) from the KT-45 congregation? ;D

I'd love to give you an AMEN but the KT-45 has proven to be the most elusive of all Z's to me. I've lost every Ebay auction I've bid on. I've had a couple of opportunities to get an "old style", i.e. "upside down" KT-45, but I really want one of the newer style.
How about an AMEN from a KT-45 non-owner?

You got a witness right here. How do you get a great tone from a KT-45? Switch it on! It's almost like it doesn't know how to sound average. Yeah, there's something special happening with the Doc. This amp, the Route 66, the Z-Best, etc. etc. You can't hit that many bullseyes by being lucky.

I don't even want to mention this model. It was the first Z that I wanted, the one that turned me on at the start,I'm always excited when anyone writes anything about it and through one reason or another seem to have bought 3 other models with a fourth on the way that ain't the KT-45. Will I ever get one? It seems to be proving the elusive as the Holy Grail. I tip my hat to the Doc for creating such an an outstanding rock n' roll machine. Big bad British crunch, chimmey and fat like a Twin.............a curly guitar cord,a new Pete Townsend SG and some big windmill power chords, what more could a geezer like me need? LOL.....

Hey Eliot.....the KT45 is amazing (as are the Z28 and Route 66) but a month ago I got a Delta 88..... OH MY...... it's not going to replace my KT45 lust but what it does is incredible in it's own right. It sounds like the biggest, fattest Marshall ever created. I'm working on a review right now.

Hey Phil, thanks for the heads up on your review. I'm looking forward to it. I've never heard a Delta. Your description sounds like it's an awesome amp. I can't say I'm surprised - all four Z's I've heard range from great to astonishing. I'll see if there's a Delta sample on the Z site. If you haven't heard the KT-45 sample, I highly recommend it. It's under "discontinued" at the site. Doc says the KT is similar to an AC30 and a Hiwatt. It is, but to my ears it's better than either. If you want a real treat, try a world-class instrument cable and plug straight in to your favorite Z. It will put a smile on your face. For me, it was a thrill.

Oh, and AMEN from a former KT45 possessor....do we ever really 'own' an amp? Well, most of us do - but, you more like, uhm, "hold" them for a spell before they move on to their next "owner". ;D

Been running my Kt45 with my Orange 2x12 cab(Which sounded good but looked not so good) till today..when my Z best cab showed up...And when I cranked her up...She blew the doors off the place....Serious pure uncolored tone...With the right pedals.(I prefer Landgraff myself)..She is a complete versarile..QUIET...monster...And for anyone running through too many buffered or non true bypass pedals...I notice it more on my Z than any other amp.. Of course the best tone is straight in...but we love our toys too...

Wow, that's a beauty. Was that wood a special order? Do you know when they stopped making the controls on the top?

I played Harvey's KT 45 last week through a THD with 2 Green Berets...it is quite awesome. Beautiful cleans and very very loud. It was similar to my Ray when played side by side, but the 45 can get more nasty without pedals. I want one!

I love the KT-45 for a lot of reasons that I have talked about over the years but I disagree with the Doc if he says AC30/Hiwatt ..... It is AC/50 to me in many ways and Hiwatt but also Fender Blackface when you want great cleans and getting those big bold cleans out of an EL34 based amp really took me by surprise the first time I played one of these. Gary Hooker (Brad Paisley) uses a KT-45 a LOT. In the shot below is my own KT-45 in Brad Paisley's rig a few years back when we were trying something and did not want to mess with Gary's amp before a show. Sorry for this photos size and tossing everything off on this page.
