I've been thinking a lot about this amp the last few days. Remembering what I heard and how it felt to play thru it. Looking forward to those firsts reports when it becomes available for sale. The NAD threads and out for delivery threads and then the "wow I can't belive how great this amp is threads" Fun times coming! Who plans on ordering one? Todd

Hey Guy's glad to hear the anticipation for the Z-Lux. I went and heard it played Friday night at Sassy's, it's in the field test stage and doing quite well. I believe the manual is near complete, all parts are in stock and production will begin in April, I will have two builders dedicated to produce the first run, ( fingers crossed ).
I hope to have a nice Video and the website section complete prior to it's release.
I do have a special release of the product arranged, but I will keep that on the low down till it happens.

I do, pending final weight, dimensions and of course price. Come to think of it, I'm more interested in the dimensions and weight than the price. Doc's pricing is always in line, especially considering quality.
Sounds like it's gonna be one of the most special releases the Doc has ever done!

Very interested on tone difference vs. the Jaz 20/40. Enlighten us Todd!! Maybe I can help Todd out a bit with my spin, and open to his thoughts as well.
Sonically it is very close the original JAZ 20/40 for a base line but here are some of the updates. 1) Ultra Lite cab cut overall 1x12 weight down to 42 lbs., also increases openness of the tone, not quite so tight as the older stiffer cab.
2) Tremolo has instant on, fixed the delay in turn on while still keeping the speed the same.
3) Selected different coupling caps , I use Hand wound Jupiter Caps in the back end , and more transparent caps in the front tone stack end. Very subtle change but adds to the richness and harmonics of the tone.
4) Added a Boost FS which doesn't take the EQ completely out so the boost isn't as severe, but nice lead drive.
5) Slightly different tube selection, that done for my ear.
6) Main filtering is softened, adding to swell of the notes, sustain, and feel under the strings.
7) Newly designed Z-12 made for this amp exclusively.
I will be receiving the field test amp back tonight, I'm readying a new one for Dave Baker to do a video, as well as a new one for a surprise gig that I hope happens, fingers crossed.

I have major GAS to buy one for my son - similar in some ways, but with an upgrade in everyway over his DRRI.He's not a gear hound, but after some time with my therapy he was knocked out by the quality build and sound of it.

Sorry for the late comments here on this thread . . . . . Differences between New Lux and the 20/40? I would really have to sit them side by side but for me the new amp has a better feel to it. Maybe its the Jupiter caps or the filter differences but this amp is more forgiving (to us mortal guitar players) than the first generation. Much like the Therapy (not in tone but in feel) the Lux has a softer more forgiving touch to it. The tone is tremendous and the sustain and bloom are nice but it just plan feels better when your plucking notes and that alone helps me play better. I hope this helps, sonically, the 20/40 was very under rated in my opinion, killer sounding amp. The Lux has that same DNA but with more forgiving feel to it WITHOUT losing its punch!!! great design Doc! Todd
