So a lot of folks use the Celestion Blue with a Ghia or the like I'm wondering why you don't see as many people running like a G12H30 for instance with a Therapy or the like...
Seems like the Blue is like 15watts and the Ghia is 18, why does it seem less common to run higher watt amps with speakers that are close or at the equal wattage?
Thanks

I can't speak to others, but I've run 30 watt speakers with the Therapy. I'm currently running a 25 watt greenback with a Z wreck. I've tried it with the Therapy and it ran fine, it just wasn't what I was looking for. I've found that most speaker companies rate their speakers conservatively, so there is some leeway. I don't usually run the amps full up and not with a ton of distortion. If you try it, it's at your own risk. I've never blown a speaker. My guess the reason others don't try is fear.

Lot's of amps are rated in "before distortion" watts. So a 25 watt amp might really be putting out closer to 40 or 50 watts when cranked all the way up. And it all depends on how the maker is getting that rating. And how healthy the amp and maybe tubes are. They're kinda all over the place. I wouldn't count on any amp putting out exactly what it's rated for.
