Hey guys...just had a quick question about some noise Im hearing. I have the Z Wreck head and cab, and a couple of days ago I noticed a sound coming through the speaker, sounds like a helicopter. It happens even with nothing plugged in to the input, and the volume of it does not increase with the volume knob, however it does with each click on the brake lite. Now the weird thing: it does get louder/softer (even goes away completely) depending on where I am standing in the room. No new electronics nearby, cell phone is in the next room, I do have a dimmer in the adjacent room but it was switched off. Any idea whats happening? Its pretty low and not really a bother, I just dont want to keep running my amp if its an issue. Im assuming some sort of RF interference. Only change that seems to have happened recently is new tenants moved in upstairs, I wonder if they have something that might make it wacky? A baby monitor or something?

Cell phone signals can go through concrete walls and then miles to a tower, so just being in the next room may not be enough. Try putting it in airplane mode or shutting it off. Same goes for the folks upstairs. They may have one on or some other electronic device like the baby monitor you mentioned. Also try locating the amp in a different place as far away from the current place as possible to see if you can get it away from any signal they may have. One last thing would be play the amp for a while while looking at the tubes from the back to see if you see any red plating or sparks, etc. Sounds like rf interference, but it could be a tube going.

The new tenants might have had a new wireless router installed . I've had that "helicopter" sound happen due to that.
