I've decided to replace the tone caps in my Grosh Set Neck I picked up from waynelawkid last year.
I typically for my giggin' guitars and have been loving the Angela PIO caps. The only real problem with them is that they are so dang gone BIG its tough to impossible to fit them into a lot of guitars.
I've got some Sprague Black Beauties, Bumble Bee and Orange Drop 715 (polypropylene) caps and Mallory 150's in a mix of .022, .033 and .047 uF values.
I plan and doing a test to see what makes the cut. I have a preconceived notion that the .03 Black Beauties just might be the "wanger".
We shall see, it should be interesting.
I was wondering what caps y'all might be using for your 'buckers and single coils (brand, type and values).

Ex Russian Military PIO k40y-9 . Have used from 010 to 047 but 015 and 022 good with buckers.

For sure Lee, thanks. I'm an old electronics boy and have been using this technique for years. It works very well- especially for these old ears and brain...crap, what was it that I had for dinner last night?

I love the Angela PIO caps myself. I've heard the "experts" say there is no difference in the sound of different type caps.....I say hogwash~
Don't be afraid to try the lower value/smaller size Angela caps Steve. The .015 uF is my fav....with humbuckers AND singles. Steve @ Angela and Jason Lollar like that value too.
Looking forward to your experiment and findings...,

Just make sure you take good care of that guitar. If it is ever going to leave your stable I want first crack at it!

Been using the Russian PIO's for a couple of years now...very smooth tone, and much smaller than the repro bumblebees or the Angelas if space is a problem.
