You know, I've always had one on my board and I seldom use it. If I ever do it's set to a short slap back (via tap). The question is, do I free up the space, or just leave it alone? I dunno.
Anyone else NOT use delay?

Lefty, I use mine just short of slap back trying for sort of a doubling / fattening effect. Might be worth a try to see if you like that type sound. It might take a little tweaking to get there depending on the pedal.

I'm the same way. I have an Eventide TimeFactor takin' up a lot of real estate and it rarely gets used. I have 3 presets set up for specific tunes, but it seems like we never play them. I've thought about yanking it off the board, but have yet to do so. As soon as I do, I'll need it…..so for now it stays put.

I use the Strymon El Capistan with favorite switch. Click the favorite switch and there is early slap-back a la Cash, Perkins, etc... With the favorite switch "off", I use the El Cap's tap tempo to set delays to the time of the song for solos or effects.

I can't really say much. I either use a pedal board with at least a delay and reverb as well as a few OD's.... Or no board at all.
I guess it boils down to if you have another pedal that really needs a spot, or if you are just creating a hole, and then need to find the pedal for it...
I love delay.

I have a TRex Replica, which also takes up a fair bit of space. I do use it quite a bit at low settings to give more dimension to notes and chords. If you don't use it much and have something else to take its spot on your board, take it off and see if you miss it.

I have owned a lot of delays. I don't use delay much in my playing, but I just like having one the board. Sometimes they are just fun to play around with when I get bored. I guess.
Right now I have one of those little TC Flashback pedals with the tone print feature. I set it up with a cool analog delay and no modulation. I also made it so the level knob, when at zero, has just the slightest amount of wet added in. That way, I can easily find that minimum, out-of-the-way level. It has the silent tap tempo thing, too. I like that.
Best, Eddie

As a member of Delay-aholics Anonymous, you'll find no support here! Seriously though, if you never use it, yank it.

It always comes down to better to have and not need, than to need and not have. I think I just need to explore a delay with a smaller footprint than the T-Rex Replica. Tap tempo is nice to have, but...
Maybe it's time to check out the DM-2W.

El Cap and MLjr come and go on my board. Most of the music we are playing doesn't need much delay. I have the fav switch on the strymon set for slapback for the Horton Heat and Stay Cats tunes.
I love the Diamond pedal for its mod and ability to stay in the background. Can be similar to my old carbon copy in a lot of ways but it has a tap tempo and adjustable mod. Great pedal!

I'm the other way round: It's pretty much all I use. I sometimes think I might get rid of the whole pedalboard and put the Strymon TimeLine on a desk with my synth...

I use a Carbon Copy permanently set on slap back and an old DD-2 for longer delays. I've had the DD-2 since 1984. Just can't seem to replace it. If I take it off to try something else it I always come back to it. The only other delay I have is an Eventide TimeFactor. I like it a lot but it takes up too much real estate on my PTjr. I already a ModFactor on the board which I need for the occasional chorus, trem, rotary, etc. I'm happy with that since I'm not too picky about modulation.
Lately I've been thinking more and more about incorporating delay w/tap tempo into my setup. That would mean if I went with what I have I'd need to sacrifice the CC, DD-2 and TC HOF reverb in order to place the TimeFactor on the PTjr. Decisions, decisions... Don't want a bigger board. Don't really want to find a smaller delay with tap tempo. Something tells me I'd just go back to the DD-2 and CC anyway. That DD-2 sure does sound good.

All things considered (tone, footprint, controls, true bypass, price) the Carbon Copy is really nice.
OTOH if it's slapback you like, then you need a Way Huge Aqua Puss--do not pass Go, do not collect $200, just get the AP. But for everything else (including just messin' around with the darned thing) I recommend the CC.

Agree on the Aqua Puss. I have an original and it's the best slap back sound I've come across. Don't use it on my regular gigging board all that much since I'd hate to see it get ripped off. The CC works well enough for that anyway and no one but me knows the difference when playing live. I've also got a DM-2 which is nice but I like the other two a lot more for my purposes.

If you want a small footprint delay the Carbon Copy is a great one. I have a couple of pedal-boards set up for different amps. I love a good thick..slight delay on solos. I have/use the Carbon Copy, BOSS DM-2, Diamond MLJR, Strymon Timeline, and the TC electronic Alter Ego V1. The Aqua Puss (Org)....is awesome for slap back as well. All depends on your need. If you don't need a tap tempo it's hard to beat the CC.

I just picked a Catalinbread Belle Epoch. I am really digging this pedal. Used it the past couple of days at church services. Tonight's service was the big one and the B.E. delivered in spades. It's very musical. I know that's very cliche, but I can go from nice doubling effect to chorus and so on. I've only had two days with it, but it only took me an hour to decide to slap the Velcro on the back and place it on the small church board. I'm thinking about getting another for the big board.

I haven't used delay in years so I would vote to kick it aside. I do like to hear someone who knows how to really use a delay, I'm just not one of those players.

I have an early TC Alter Ego on my board. It knocked off a Carbon Copy. I use slapback mode when I want that effect or, with a modest knob tweak, a little "air" when using a non-reverb amp. A quick twist of the mode knob and I get more typical delay sounds, which I use on a few tunes. I'd miss it with my current repertoire.
I have an El Cap also, which I love, but I like to keep the gig board small and light.

Are you using it with the MAZ?

Ron, I'm away from home so I can't post a pic, but here's the lineup: Boss TU-2, Klon Klone, Keeley Red Dirt, FET Dream, TC delay. Knob settings are tweaked for my Ghia, which usually gets the gigs. It did sound good into the MAZ the other day, but some of the pedals, the Red Dirt in particular, would have benefited from adjustments. The Klone was very impressive as a boost. I was running a Tele into the hi input on the 18.
