Hey Maz 8 owners. I have owned a Maz 38 in the past and loved the sound and tone. I have always wanted that sound in a smaller grab and go package. I tried the Maz 18 and honestly volume wise I found very little difference. I also own a Blues Jr. and have used it at some pretty big venues mic'd up with no issues. So when I started considering looking for a better quality Blues Jr. I thought I should check out the Maz 8. What I like about the Jr. is the clean headroom. It's not like its super loud or anything but it doesn't get into grind territory easily, so its a great pedal platform. I've never had a problem gigging where I couldn't hear it. I know Z watts are a little deceiving, so would the 8 be comparable volume wise to the Jr.?
Thanks for your help guys

It's been a while since I had a BJr, but I would say the Maz 8 is louder. And vastly better sounding.

I have a Blues Jr. with JJ EL 844 (low power) tubes and I think the volume is comparable. I'm not partial to clean headroom so my opinion my not be what you are looking for.
I like my Maz 8 so much that I only use my Blues Jr. as a backup amp. I think you will too.

Don't know much about the Blues Jr., but I play in a band where the other guitarist uses the Pro Jr. The Maz 8 and the Mini Z are both louder and are more musical to my ear. The Fenders sound ok. Pretty good miked and recorded, but are less defined/present in the mix when playing live.

Clean headroom and a great pedal platform sounds like a m12. Although the brief experience I had with a maz 8 was awesome.

I found for my taste however, the clean to be a little sterile or "Hi-Fi". obviously this is what makes it great for pedals though.

I've got a Maz 8 and a Pro Jr. The Pro Jr. is a little louder, but since I got the Maz 8 it has been on CL for sale. The Maz sounds so much better than the PJ, it's not even a contest. I guess I'm gonna have to lower the price on the Pro Jr. again...I've gotta get rid of that thing.

I tried changing the speaker (to a Greenback , maybe not the best choice) , swapping tubes etc. I gave up and sold it. I always felt like the amp was fighting me. Just my 2 cents.

The ole cardboard box got a new wgs reaper hp yesterday...and have to say the mids, high's are sounding much sweeter.
It will always be a blues junior...for jams it will work.
