I received my tweed Champ clone today from our Z brother, Pickslide. Thanks Dan! The amp is made by Clara Amplification. To my knowledge Clara was a one man show and the guys business never really took off but he just built nice amps. The tweed looks and feels great. The amp is all handwired. The amp seems very well built. Probably not quite as sturdy as a Z, but still very sturdy. I was pleasantly surprised how quiet it is. I could actually crank her all the way to 12 and not lose my hearing, something I can't do on my Carmen Ghia at home. The tone certainly isn't as pleasing to the ear as my Ghia, but is is different and fun. I've never played through any tweed Champ circuits so this is all new to me. Plugged my Tele in and cranked her up. Reminds me a lot of some classic Stones records. Tone is kind of thin and fuzzy but it's just a classic tone that works well for particular applications.
