I had a conversation with a very trusted friend in the biz yesterday who told me that the stuff coming out of the Schecter USA custom shop was amazing and that it was on par with many of the names that we sport around here all the time, and at great prices too. I was surprised to learn that Schecter started out as a pure custom shop kind of deal and were doing guitars for the likes of Pete Townshend, Prince, etc. Anyway, I am only familiar with Schecter as sort of a Korean knock off kind of deal and wondered if any of you had any experience with Schecter? this one has my blood boiling just a bit. Get rid of the ashtray bridge and put a trem bridge on there and off we go...

Schecter was definitely one the best guitars out there in the 90s. It's maybe a bit funny that they were making teles and strats back then but they were considered by many to be just "knock offs." Now, some of the top names make nothing but knock offs! Suhr, Nash, LSL, Lentz all have guitars that look a lot like Fender guitars, but those are considered way more cool than when Schecter was doing it. Not trying to ruffle anybody's feathers. Trust me, if money was no object, I'd have one of each! Lol.
Glad to hear they might be ramping US production back up. Eddie

I thought they just made guitars in Asia for metal players.

Interestingly it seems that Mark Knopfler used them extensively in the hay day...
