Been putting off building a new pedal board but the time has come. Gotta get ready for gigs 2 or 3 times a month, and I need something that'll be easy to move and setup. I'm all for building my own stuff when I can, but this looks like a great board. www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifiers-effects/skb-skb-ps-55-stagefive-professional-pedalboardThe only thing I can't find out is what the power supplies specifications are, especially the 9 volt supply's current capacity in mA. I have read elsewhere that the power supplies don't have enough juice to run power hungry effects like certain delays. I'm going to be running a wah, a TC Electronics Flashback F4 delay, a Wampler Euphoria, a Timmy, and a couple of others, no doubt. I'll also need 120 VAC for my Sweetsound UltraVibe. Is there a better way? I definitely want a hard case for whatever I end up with.

I would think it would probably be less $ if you went with a Pedal train of comparable size and get a separate power supply that has 6 or 8 9Volt jacks and two 18 Volt jacks. I use a Dunlop on my board with those features.
Also, read the product reviews that the MFfriend has posted.

^^ +1 on Pedal Train with separate power supply. My gigging board is their Jr w hard case and a Pedal Power II+. It looks to be about the same size as the SKB. The II+ will power most pedals out there with the exception of some power-hungry ones (check the Xotic site to be sure).

I agree w the other guys. Pedaltrain stuff is nice, flexible and affordable. Unless you need the sort of loop type stuff that the SBK has I would think you'd have a less expensive, more streamlined and portable rig building it around the right Pedaltrain and other power supplies.

+1 for the PT boards. Glad you recognize the need for a hard case, which is also an option with the PTs.

I have a PT2 with a Voodoo pedal power 2 Plus.... It will run 6 "regular" pedals plus two of my strymon pedals which require increased amperage. You can also use a special cable to jumper 2 outputs for an 18 volt application...

I have a Petal trail. It will allow you to run cables under the board so you don't need to be as concerned about length. You can get long cables and then Tie them off underneath the board.

Looks like a no-brainer...PedalTrain 100%. I'll check them out, I for sure want a hard case for it. I've got a couple of 1-Spot power supplies, and they put out 9 volts @ 1700mA. The heaviest drawing effect I have is the delay, and it's 300mA. Thanks guys! I appreciate the help.

On one of my boards I use the 1Spot set-up, and it works fine.
The PT hard cases are pretty rugged (I have a Junior); you can even put padlocks on it.

After looking at size and weight I went with the gig bag. I'm not going to be flying with my gear (I hope!) and with my bad back I can't schlep a heavy case around without wheels. Plus, reading some of your experiences with PT's customer service, I'm impressed that even if the bag fails, they will replace it. Lifetime. That's real cool. I guess I could buy a hard case later on too, if it turns out that I have to have one. That thing would have to be heavy fully loaded!!!

I had an SKB ps 45 for a few years and really enjoyed it. It was super rugged and reliable. In the end it was just too bulky and heavy so I sold it and got a pt jr with a soft case and run everything form a pedal power 2 plus. I like the smaller size of it. It's just all around more convenient. I didn't notice any drop in noise moving from the SKB built in power supply to the voodoo lab that some people have noticed.

I have a PT2 that I originally purchased with the soft case. Sweetwater was kind enough to work with me as I thought the soft case to not be as protective. I got the hard case; a little heavier, but I don't fear when packing the car. The Pt2 has voodoo labs pedal power I have also purchased a PT Nano and use PT's Volto on the nano; very convenient. Completely satisfied with both.

I go with the consensus as I too use a Pedaltrain. I power up using a GigRig Generator Modular Power Supply
