...but that Dave Baker demo of the Maz Jr on the Dr. Z site just kills me. Every time I watch it. I've owned a Maz JR. NR but it might be time to try the reverb model - he gets such nice tones from it. I do think the Z28 is a great, great amp but it might be time to do a flip .

I'm all for it. New tone leads to new tunes and lots of fun. Plus the reverb is outstanding sounding. I got to try a MAZ18 for the first time a week or two ago. I often think of trying out the Z28 instead of the Ghia...We all want to swap from time to time....maybe someone with a MAZ18 would swap you for your Z28 so you could both see

I have both and they are quite different. They handle pedals differently and have noticably different dynamics. The z28 has beautiful fat cleans and my personal favorite overdrive I've ever heard. It's incredibly dynamic though, which I feel is what makes the amp feel alive.
The Maz has it's own charm and an amazing EQ. On the verge of breakup the amp feel so beautiful to play. It has a wonderful compression to it, which I feel the z28 does not have.
Both amps are great.

I've actually owned a Maz Jr in the past but not the reverb model, so I'm somewhat familiar with its voice. I agree with you about the Z28's fat cleans, and that's one of the things I love about the amp.
