I got the cab today,, (great product). The chassis slid in perfectly and there is a difference in weight for sure. I did notice a slight loss of low end, but Im not sweating this, for its not enough to bug at all. I highly recommend Mather Cab.. I figured it out....

I do like the sound of original cab, but after bumping the bass up on the Maz,, I would have a tough time telling a difference,,especially playing with a band. Maybe someone here can do the pepsi challenge and find out.

Looks nice! I've been toying with the idea over the years. I used to think the weight I wanted to lift was linearly proportional to my age. I'm now finding that at 50+, the relationship is non-linear.

OK , guys I feel obligated to put my $.02 in this conversation.
As all recording engineers will tell you, " distance equals depth" , so the bigger the baffle board , the bigger the projected sound. A standard or what we call, Classic Combo Cab will generate the best tonal response, a smaller cab will always sound , SMALLER and THINNER . On our Studio Cabs I increase the base of the cab size and angle the baffle to increase Bass response, and well as sound projection. This helps it tonally , but the weight decrease and the foot print decrease is advantageous to many players. Like in all engineering you don't get anything free, it is a trade off, a compromise of sorts.
Understand it is a difficult task for me to offer replacement cabs as we don't have a wood shop in house, and cabs, and colors need to ordered in multiples of 36, corresponding to orders placed by my dealers. To have extra cabs just for replacement sale is a costly , order 36 to fill one replacement cab order is not practical. Also my storage space is limited, and very precious to me.
I do understand an after market builder offering MAZ compact cabs. It is a bit flattering, and with over 10,000 MAZ amps in the field it posses as a lucrative product. Just remember guys it will alter the sound of amp , but the advantage in size and weight may be worth it for you.
As you know DR.Z doesn't just sit on his hands, and I have a solution in the works , for early next year.
Stay tuned.......
