soundcloud.com/the-opera-panther/mimsy-i-should-have-calledAnother recent creation. A few details: A lot of Ghia on this one- all of the lead stuff. The verse/chorus stuff is my Kauer with p-90s, the solo at the end is my Grosh Set Neck. The warbly sound on the rhythm electric was the Kauer through my Swart AST with a funny setting on the Strymon Deco. Sort of a wobbly tape deck. I used a two mic setup on the acoustic- a small diaphragm condenser on the neck/body joint, and a large diaphragm condenser over my right shoulder (I'm a righty). Bass went direct through my 11rack, per usual. I was going for sort of a trashy hifi sound, if that makes sense. I wanted everything to be clear, but to have each instrument be a bit rough around the edges. All the effects, with the exception of the huge delay on the solo at the end were pedal based. I like printing with effects, as it takes decisions out of my hands later. I'd rather spend a couple minutes getting a good sound in the room than hours poring over plugins and effects later. If there's one thing I'm short on these days, it's time, and "perfect" is the sworn enemy of "done". Compression, some EQ, some reverb on the acoustics, and the aforementioned huge delay were accomplished in Logic. Hope you enjoy!

Nice tone and playing. Not sure I like the wobbly sound but hey, still great tone there from the Ghia on solos!

Thanks!
I sort of wanted to make the song feel a little uncomfortable to listen to. I was in an uncomfortable place mentally when I put that together. So that guitar sounds out of tune with the wobble effect. And it's uncomfortable to listen to against the backdrop of the other "in tune" guitars. Kind of what I was going for. And the semi-trashy sounding delays, etc.
Fun fact- I wrote that entire thing as I recorded it. My plan was to record this blues/funk thing in E major that I'd been working on for a bit. I got some unfortunate news that morning, and what you hear is what came out instead.

I think we've all had that wobbly feeling one time or another!
