PRS Singlecut with Fralin PAF's straight in to the RXES into the Hot Plate (-12db) into the Alnico Golds. I tried the THD 4x12 and I didn't like the sound as well as the Golds, so they're here. I'm sure some of you will like this - I guess I'm just a single coil guy through and through. The PRS sure sustains great, and it has a great sound, but I like my Tele and my Strat more. You may disagree. That's what makes the world go 'round. I cut about half of this out because the guitar was going way out of tune at about where I faded this, so had originally recorded quite a bit longer clip. But out of tune is out of tune, after all! Anyway, after all those disclaimers, and the standard ones about lame playing, the phase of the moon, and the nasty leftover sandwich I ate before doing this, here you go: RXESPAFSingecut.mp3

Excellent sustain, on that Dickie Betts approved clip.
I liked the the lowend thump after the first ripping solo when you returned to clean.
Boy those Golds are sweet aren't they.

Yup, this is exactly the kind of tone I was aluding to yesterday. Very sweet sustain and plenty of drive. You don't hear many amplifiers with this kind of unique high-gain tone. I love this clip...and I think the Singlecut sounds great. Then again, I'm biased. I have a Singlecut with PAF-type pickups too . One thing that's interesting to me is how well this amp does with so many different speakers, as shown by peoples' different "favorite speaker". For a long time, I swore by 50w AlNiCo Blue Dog and Silver Bell with this amp. Then I heard it with Eminence Red, White, and Blues, and I haven't looked back since. I know Eminence doesn't get a lot of props on this forum, but the RWBs are amazing speakers.... I love them with my RxES. I can't wait to hear what they sound like with my Brown Note D'Lite 22 once I'm finished building it. ...but those Golds do sound amazing! GAS! ;D

Yeah, speakers are SO VERY important to your tone. It's a shame we have to buy virtually all of them to try before we're finally satisfied! Buy them all... yeah, that's the ticket... tell my wife (mumble, mumble.....) de-vorce... (mumble..)

Tone to die for Steve . I always enjoy listening to your clips, I keep telling myself "one of these years I will be able to play maybe sorta kinda like that, if I would practice more instead of sittin here pounded the keyboard" ;D. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! Thanks Stan, but of course that feeling never leaves no matter how much you learn, because there is always that one guy that does something you just can't imagine. I spent a lot of time trying for speed for a lot of years, and now I try NOT to play too much - it's always a new challenge with music. As long as we're having fun, I don't think any of it matters all that much.

Yeah Baby! That's great tone and playing Steve. Funny, how you mentioned how it's a challenge to slow it down and play less notes. I just hit my 49th and am still playing way toooo many notes. I thought that buy the time I hit 40 somthing ya mellow and it would be easy to mellow but when you've got that smoking amp and guitars tones and the chops you've got it's gotta be impossible to keep a good man down! Love the Tele RXES clips as well. I'm like you I just happen lean toward single coils but that single cut is cranking out quality tones. Keep em coming as I aways enjoy listening. BIOT I'm liking the RXES clips best of all so far...

Thanks Drew. I'm sure enjoying it! I think it's a lot easier to slow down when you're playing in context in a real band, vs. just playing by yourself on a clip. But in either place, there's a place for fast playing, and a place for copping the feel. I just tend to get the feel a lot better when a real drummer is there to help me along.

Would somone please put this clip on the Dr. Z website? Listening to the clips on the website I had absolutely NO interest in this amp, and now that I've listened to your clips benttop I NEED a RXES!

Thanks mileseven! I'm liking this tone a lot better today - must have had my goofy ears on yesterday.
