Congrats on the imminent arrival!
As for pedals, I STRONGLY recommend you do not touch a pedal for at least 2 weeks, or until you have FULLY explored this amp with guitar straight in. Then introduce modulation effects........ and THEN dirt boxes if you must.
Seriously.

I like Pete's advice. Start the amp like this, Master 12:00, Bass 9:00 to 10:00, Mids 12:00 to 2:00, Highs 12:00 to 2:00, volume 2:00 with the guitar if it has humbuckers around 6 and then turn up and down from there. Knowing what you like for the SRZ, I think you'll have fun.

I waited a short while to try a dirt pedal but truth is I don't need them with this amp and that is with single coils. Once in a while I will hit the EP and the SP compressor. The treble bleed I did on my guitar last month opened a new world to me and this amp. I set the amp like this: MV 11 O'clock bass 9 O'clock M noon T around noon V at 1 O'clock and the rest is GV. I have to play low in my house and used to attenuate and lower the GV but it got all muddy. After the mod I can roll that GV and keep all dynamics....up the GV a bit and it is dirtier..then dirtier. Although it is a one channel amp you can get a plethora of tones. Try as our brothers have suggested then introduce the pedals if you have to I do like the OCD with this amp...just don't need it

I agree find your tone with the amp first and then decide if you need any pedals.

I've got a closet full of OD pedals. What everyone else is saying is true; the Therapy stands tall as a great guitar>cord>amp setup. As I gain experience with the Therapy in a performance setting, I'll probably end up doing that just that. I hope that I can, but I think whether or not depends on my abilities, not the amp. I need a really clean sound, then I need to go to a rock lead tone for some songs. I might be able to comp with a dirtier tone than I've been using and that would help in the no-pedal setup That said, I probably will use an OD for solo tones in the jazz big band. It likes the OCD, Timmy, EP and RC boosters; it's a really pedal friendly amp that doesn't need much help!

I use one dirt (well I guess two in one) pedal and that would be a KoT. It is killer!!!! I cover so much ground between straight cleanish (MV 9-11, V 11-1), little more dirt with the yellow side, and full on face melt with both on together (high gain mod of course!).

Congrats on the Therapy you did the right thing! (I forgot to tell you before I hi jack your tread above my apologies) Thanks for the link gplayer.
All good advice above! I use less pedals with the Therapy than any other amp. I haven't been able to ween myself In a Live setting with no pedals. On my board I have a Timmy, Klone Clone and a Paisley for OD. I also use a delay and HOF Reverb all work well. That being said I set the Therapy up with a little dirt roll the volume back on the GTR for clean.( I rarely play clean) I only use one of the overdrives at a time for a lead boost. I have one setup for my tele and another OD setup for a JM Strat with big dippers. Enjoy, Ray

Jamie, glad you like it so soon! Try your Tele too - this amp LOVES the Tele. But as much as I dug the sounds of my Tele, once I plugged in my Strat I haven't stopped playing it. I still have several guitars that need a tryout on there, but the Strat is just SO what I'm about.

That's funny, my Teles have been my # 1 for a while now, but after playing my Strat through the Therapy that may change! The Strat just sounds amazingly huge.
