I just got the amp today and recorded 8 short clips.... I'll try and post more when I figure this beast out a little more. The clips are on my site at www.guitartest.moonfruit.com . Please forgive the sloppy playing and the "out of tune" guitars in spots too, but enjoy the clips

Wow. Great soundclips. I had decided that the RxES was simply too loud for home use- but THAT is the tone I'm dying for, dammit. Come on, Doc! RxES Jr! You know you'd sell a ton of 'em!!
How loud was the amp on those 2 tracks you were doing the Paisley licks on?

How loud was the amp on those 2 tracks you were doing the Paisley licks on? Most of those clips were at gig level, the amp was on about 4 or 5... So it was pretty loud, but not Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier make your ears bleed loud. It is actually more managable than I thought!?!? I plan on getting one of those Weber mini mass attenuators that run about $75. You should maybe check in to that if the RX-ES is the tone you want but not the volume? The weber attenuators are much more reasonable than the THD ones.

I have a Mini-Mass that I run on my 50-watter. It "works", but attenuating a 50-watt amp down to a reasonable home playing level is ALOT of attenuation, and I'm really afraid the magic of the RxES will be lost. I'm more than willing to give it a try, I'm just scared to death that I'll buy the RxES, LOVE it, but have to sell it because it can't be tamed down to home levels. That would break my heart. That's why I've been looking at a Ghia or MazJr. But NO OTHER Z amp sounds like the RxES, from the clips I've heard. THAT'S the tone I'm looking for, I just wish it came in a 18-22watt package...

OK I'll have my RX builder build a 2 EL-84 version, and I'll use the Ghia OT . The "The Over The Counter OTC RX " Sell a ton you say...... Well I'll let you know how it turns out. And also NICE clips telejas, I like them all but I did play the last one , the abused RX a couple of times SWEET....... DR.Z

What speakers are you using? They sound good with that amp. Also, I like the "Alone Again" riff - brings back memories...

What speakers are you using? They sound good with that amp. Also, I like the "Alone Again" riff - brings back memories... This has a 50wt Alnico blue and a 50wt Alnico Silver Bell... I mic'd the Silver bell, because I thought it sounded a bit "warmer" than the blue. The blue also seemed to break-up a bit more quickly. The two together sound really great and I'm looking forward to playing this weekend and mic-ing both speakers and seeing what my soundman thinks and see what I think sounds best out front? The Silver or the Blue- or both? I really like this amp, and it records better than any other clean amp I've ever owned!! It sounds like it does on "tape" as it does live and I've never came across that using a SM57. And I don't even miss reverb.
