Well as luck would have it I was using my combo's speakers with my SRZ-65 and when I clicked on a fuzz pedal I blew one of the G12H30s. Shucks. I'm wondering what would pair well...I like a gritty old-school grind when the 45 is pushed either with volume, my BB preamp, or a Rangemaster. Suggestions?

I'd be going with a very similar speaker to the one you blew there mate. Be careful not to get something that will be too mismatched, canceling out frequencies of the other speaker. What is the other speaker, a G12M?

Both speakers were (are?) Celestion 70th anny G12H30s.

Ok,well in that case if you were happy with your tone, then as we say downunder, "When your'e on a good thing stick to it" Other possible choices though could be a Weber silver bell ceramic or blue dog for a little bit of Voxey chime although in both cases might sacrifice that bottom end that the G12h is famous for. I'm a big fan of 25 watt pre- rola greenbacks in British type amps but it's always up to the individuals personal tastes in the end. I presume the g12h's that you have are rated at 30 watts. Their is one right now on Ebay that is a MADE IN ENGLAND one. They want $90 plus shipping. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

Matt, I'd be tempted to get Weber to build a higher wattage greenback clone for it. I LOVED greenbacks with my45.

I've got an openback avatar cabinet with my KT45. It has the V30 / G12H combo in it and I love how punchy the amp sounds. It really hits you in the chest when you play a power chord.
I'm currently using an Analogman fuzzface into it and it sounds killer.
I was at the NW Dr. Z meetup and tried a cabinet with 2 Celestion Alnico Gold (50w) speakers. OHMYGOD. That's pretty expensive for a couple of speakers, but when I played a blackface bassman through them, I was in tonal heaven.
Good luck with your search.

I've heard they are fairly bright. Would you say you preferred them over your current V30/G12h setup. I'm keen on getting a Kt45 or 65/45 in the next 6 months or so and I'm doing the research now on what peoples recommendations are.

I am using a 1x12 C Gold with KT45 at the moment.I like it a lot. I'd also like to try 2x12 greenbacks with KT45.

Hey,
Unfortunately, I never tried the KT45 through the Golds. The blackface Bassman I played was absolutely killer with those speakers though. My guess is that the Golds sound awesome with just about anything you throw in front.
I thought about Greenbacks as well. I also thought about trying to dig up some Fane speakers (or Weber Thames) to get that HiWatt sound.
