A few people have asked about the SRZ-65 in a couple of different contexts, so I was fooling around with the recorder on. The first is a slide piece I learned off that Les Dudek LP we were discussing in another thread. Wish I could play it like him, but I'm all out of practice with slide. But the SRZ-65 sounds amazing for slide! Whoa! I might have to start hauling this guitar out again.... settings: PRS 24 fret bolt neck > SRZ-65 > Hot Plate (-12 db) > THD 4x12 Volume: 10 o'clock Master: Dimed Treble: Noon Middle: Dimed Bass: Dimed Presence: Noon The clip: Dudek.mp3Then someone was asking about single coils, and how the amp reacts to the guitar's volume control. This is kind of a sloppy example, but I hope it demonstrates what happens when you roll the volume back to 5. Second clip settings: Mexi-Strat/GFS pups > SRZ-65 > Hot Plate (-8 db) > THD 4x12 Volume: 8 o'clock Master: Dimed Treble: Noon Middle: Dimed Bass: Dimed Presence: Noon The clip: LeaveMyLittleGirlAlone.mp3

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT!!!!!! damn Steve, I've just been camping in the wilderness at a circus festival for 5 days. I come back and straight away there is an awesome reminder of the fact that I DONT HAVE A SRZ-65 I'm really digging that tone. Very cool.

Thanks for the clips Steve!
PDW
P.S. I see what you mean about the Airbrake being not quite enough to tame the Beast. I had mine goin' last night and even on position "4" it's dang loud. Rock 'n' Roll!!

Rock 'n' Roll!! Yeah, this beast has a lot of marbles! Even at -12 db with my Hot Plate it's still pretty loud! I'm dying to try it live though - at concert volume it should be glorious!

I have got to stop listening to your clips. If not, I may wind up with a SRZ instead of a Jr as my first Z.

It is getting worse. At first the color combinations, red chicken knobs and all, did not do much for me. Now... I am starting to think that some Burst Bucker Pros plugged into this beast driving a Z Best cabinet with my pair of about to be reconed EV SRO AlNiCos could be used for demolition work. The volume could bring a small house down. Ah, to be 20 again and dream of a rock star life. Hey Dr Mike, is that black and red grill cloth ready yet?

Yes it is.
Hey Steve thanks for the slide clips.
I remember hearing Joe Walsh playing " Victim of Love " on HFOT on the record he is lost in the mix, but live through a SRZ 65 OH MY made the hairs on my neck stand up.
Brass slide with a Glen Fry Signature Rick, SRZ 65 and a Z-Best.
