Hello members; 3 month wait, got a Mather studio cab today for my maz18 chassis. Super build, however, I'm having trouble w/ the chassis install. The chassis gets loaded from the back, @ the top, but the tranny won't clear the side cleat that the back panel screws to by about an 1/8" or more. Anyone had this scenario? Thanks...Greg

Mine fit in with no problem. Mine is a reverb model. Is yours and NR?

Yes, reverb. I loosened the 4 tranny screws trying to get some play, that only dropped off a small nut and washer holding a bracket/wire connection for the power cord and jewel light. I emailed Peter M, calling it quits tonight. See what happens tomorrow! Thanks for the reply .

Hey y'all; Update.. Peter M. emailed, fedex will pickup the cab & return to him. He will modify the cleat, finish the tolex, and immediately return it. This guy is awesome, and his cabinetry skills are masterful in my book! Buy w/ confidence from this man. BTW, I was on the phone w/ Doc yesterday, forgot to ask him if he would be selling studio cabs. I seem to remember him mentioning something to that effect when he commented on a members Mather studio cab in a thread. Have a nice weekend peeps

Man, that's awesome, but a bummer to have it in your hands and then have to send it back out and wait more. The waiting is the hardest part...Tom Petty must of bought a Mather cab before he wrote that song.

The waiting is the hardest part...Tom Petty must of bought a Mather cab before he wrote that song. A little, but I recently picked up a Taylor gc3 on the bay, wanted to commit to fingerstyle. Trying to learn some Andy McKee, bought his tab book "Joyland". Use a metronome, start slow, occasionally stop playing and control your breathing, continue.Gentleman, imho this style separates the men from the boys. Understandably, one shouldn't start trying to copy a master either. Check out Andy on yt, the song "My life as a cpa" greenfield guitars(he's playing a $12,000 acoustic that sounds like a piano to me).

Hey digs; Mine is a 2008 anniversary that came in the big, honkin', 2x12 combo. 2 major back surgeries, and a hip replacement in 3 years, I can't manage it, thus my contacting Peter. Chez pm'd me a photo of his Mather 18verb conversion, and said his slid right in. Oddly, almost looks to me like my tranny is bigger than his. You might want to contact Peter to mention the issue. Let me know if I can help...Greg

Just so you guys can check your tranny size and location, here's a shot showing my 2001 MAZ18 w/reverb chassis in a Mather studio cab. Fits in cleanly. Please note the distance between the left side of the tranny and the end of the chassis. Hope this helps.

Peter builds a he!! of a nice cabinet especially for the price he charges, but sometimes things get by you...... I think it was this cabinet build I did, the chassis wouldn't go in without some tweaking...I didn't have to deal with tolex so it was a easy fix. In fact, I think I took one of the back valance cleats of, installed the chassis and then put the cleat back on....worked great..

But you don't sell empty factory built cabs.... anymore With all this Mather stuff, I'm thinking about selling cabs direct next year. Looks like there is a temporary market, we'll see.
Our Studio Cabs are built of light weight imported ply ( from Italy ) , very resonate, and less weight then Baltic.

I'm quadruple impressed! Seriously though, Doc, I think there would be some low-level steady business for your cabs... it's just a matter of figuring out where that level is and is it sustainable (obviously; I'm preachin' to the choir here, I'm sure).

Okay. So, I'm an engineer. I even have a doggone masters degree in engineering. So, why do I think when you engineer a cabinet to be smaller that you use the same materials? It makes a heck of a lot sense to use a lighter material since it has to support less load. Plus, one of the goals is that the end result is appreciably lighter.
Then again, maybe the fact that I've been in management for the last 10-15 years explains it.
I do like the idea of Z cabs.

I love my Maz 8 studio! Maybe I should get a Z-28 head instead of a 1-12 combo if there's a chance I can get a real Z studio cabinet. Can a Z-28 Studio Combo be in the works?

Doc, I think a lot of guys would like to be able to switch between head and combo using your cabs. They are so well built and designed that it would be great to be able to switch between. Todd

Weight vs Age? I'm finding weight comes with age except for what I can lift.

For me I can handle a few extra pounds in a smaller box vs same weight in a larger bulky box.
So size does matter :>)
