I've been playing the Remedy with 2 1x12 cabs both loaded with Creambacks. I'm wanting to try another speaker that's not a Gold or Red Tone Tubby, but of which I didn't like with the Remedy. I'm also not sure if I HAVE to stay with the same loudness (Creamback is 97db I think). I recently been thinking of trying a V30. I run one cab open (middle panel) and one cab closed.
Anyone pairing a creamback with something else? If so, what and how do you like it?
Thanks for any advice.
Eric

I have a Greenback with a V30 in my Z Best which I like alot. I've been running my Creamback in an open back 1-12 cabinet so I haven't tried it with the V30 in the Z Best. The Creamback is supposed to be a higher powered Greenback with a little tighter bottom end. I think the V30 closed back and the Creamback open back might be really good together particularly if the cabinets are stacked with the Creamback on top. Like everyone says, the V30's are tough to get broken in. You have to beat them for a while before they sweeten up. I have no personal experience but have heard great things about the WGS Veteran speakers which is their version of the V30 and I hear they break in easier.

I was going to suggest a V30. But the V30 will be significantly louder. (97db vs 100db) I would suggest having the open back cab loaded with the creamback and the closed back with the V30. (The closed back feature will kill some volume.)
Greenback/Creamback= classic rock V30= hard rock & metal
I would also suggest getting a used V30 if you can. When new, they sound nasal (really awful). After they're broken in, the tone is more balance. There's still the signature upper mid spike in tone, but overall it's more balanced. They're 60 watt speakers, so you don't have to worry too much about some headbanging kid pounding on it to the point of abuse. They can take a lot. And I've NEVER heard of anyone burning up a V30.
I bought one new, put it in a cabinet...hated it. Took it out and put it on a shelf for two years. Finally hooked it up to my pa head, ran bass/drum loops through it at really high volume. (cone was moving back/forth about 1 inch!) Did this for 40 hours. I had it wrapped in a sleeping bag and no one was home. Put it back in a cabinet and fired it up. WOW...what a difference. SO much better.
