Monday's the day. Therapy and 1x12 cab (Creamback) in red, delivered by the brown truck by the end of the day. Hope it gets here early though. I've got a gig Monday night. I've got a very well broken in Vintage 30 that is probably going to go right into the cab when I get it. I'll break in the Creamback later. I couldn't order it until Thursday afternoon, which meant that I'll have to wait the weekend out...bummer. Can't wait to plug into that baby and get to cookin'...C'MON MONDAY!!!

That's great that you'll get your Therapy so fast. I've got about another 5 weeks to go....... been waiting 7 so far!!
It will be nice to hear how you like the V30. I have a Creamback in a 1x12, but am curious about the V30. I also have a Gold that's not broken in sitting around that I could use.
Hope you get to use the Therapy for your gig.

So, Monday you will be feeling Cream, Red, and Brown? I would like to know what the Good Doc will make next to take his visions of amp hood to the next level! He keeps raising the bar for himself each time he releases a new one.
Enjoy your Monday - congrats!

Thanks, guys...There's only one downside to the whole thing. The shipment is signature-required, and I have a gig Monday night at 6:30 PM. UPS usually gets to our home at around 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The gig's about 5 miles from home, though. So I'm going to go set up early and have my wife wait at home for UPS. Does anyone know if UPS will accept my wife's signature instead of mine?

stratman, hang in there, buddy. I can now verify that the wait is worth every minute! IT'S HERE, WOOHOO!!! The Therapy session has begun. I got my Therapy yesterday and gigged it the same day. What an awesome amp this thing is. THANK YOU DR. Z FOR EVERYTHING... I'll post an in-depth review after I play with changing the speaker from Creamback to a well broken in Vintage 30, and get some time with it under my belt...but I can say that with the Creamback the amp sings. Last night's show was a dinner affair with about 300 guests seated at tables of 8. Big room. Big band, full jazz orchestra 30's / 40's style. Everybody in the band was talking about the tone of the amp, how clear it was, and how it came through without being intrusive. It was great. I played a 335 plugged straight in, and it was very easy to dial in a nice big tone. TONE, TONE, TONE. What an amazing amp. i gotta finish my coffee and play it some more. I think I'm dreaming... -Dave

That's great, Dave. Congrats.
Would love to hear what settings you used for that gig and rig. I'll add them to the tone sheet, which is available via the link in my signature.
I'm also interested in how you compare the V30 to the Creamback. I liked the Creamback quite a bit. Don't have a solo V30 to compare, but the Z Best with V30 + G12H sound great.

I'm also interested in how you compare the V30 to the Creamback. I liked the Creamback quite a bit. Don't have a solo V30 to compare, but the Z Best with V30 + G12H sound great. I think the master was around 1:00, volume at around 11:00, bass 9:00, mids 11:00 and treble around 1:30 or so...not sure, and I wouldn't post them in the tone sheet just yet. I swapped out the speakers yesterday, and tried the V30. I'm getting a big bass thump even with the bass control down around 9:00. The bass balances out with the center back piece removed from the cab, but then the balance of the speaker goes awry. Not sure that I'm liking it as well as the open back creamback setup so far. For the last 24 hours I've had the creamback on a variac set to 13.25 vac. That should break it in fairly well, and this afternoon I am going to put it back in and try it. I really liked the tone with the creamback, and the center slat of the cab removed. I found something interesting in this so far; the V30 sounds best in a closed back cab. I've never liked any other closed back cab very much, because they are too directional for my taste. I love the 3d feel and wide dispersion of open back cabs. I was surprised at the fact that in my particular room, the closed back V30 sounded more open and balanced than the open back V30 did. Exactly the opposite of the creamback test. I'm very interested as to why that is...more experimenting is needed! I'll let you know what I discover...

^^^^
Open back is VERY dependent on room, cab position and what's behind the cab......... closed back less so....... so might be worth moving it around in open back mode.
I had mine in the corner of my office / music room, but moved it out parallel to one wall and about 18" out from the wall - HUGE difference in tone and response.

Agree 100% on room acoustics. I'm in a pretty small studio (15x18, opening into two other rooms), carpeted, with a vaulted ceiling. I've found that the sound varies with lots of things, even the ceiling fan. I thought I had my UniVibe on one time and it was the fan!
So here's my report for the day: I put the "Broken in" Creamback back into the 1x12 cab this afternoon, and I gotta tell you, 24 hours or so on a variac at 13 1/4 volts makes a big difference. The speaker sounds good right out of the box, but after a day of break in it got warm and smooth. Very, very nice. The amp sounds absolutely killer in all gain modes, from clean, sweet jazz type to balls out rock 'n roll. I left the center back panel off, and I'm going to move it into my living room tomorrow and see what that sounds like. But wow...that amplifier... and that speaker...sounds really fine. I found that with the bass at 10:30, mids at 12:00, and treble at 1:30 the amp will do just about anything you want from the guitar's controls. It's very, very touch sensitive, and really is going to make me a much better player, simply because it's so accurate that it brings out the best I have to give. It simultaneously strips you naked before the world and gives you power, if that makes any sense. It empowers you with GREAT tone, and at the same time, EVERYTHING I do on that guitar comes out. Dang thing must read my mind. There isn't any compressed mushy distortion to hide behind, but it'll get as dirty as an old dock-side trollop when you call on it to. I've been playing mostly my 335 with it so far, but it likes my LP Junior w/P90's too. And my LP Std. with humbuckers sounds terrific too. I am blown away by the variety of great sound that I can get from the 335. Pristine clean to killer rock tone, right from the volume knob...it's great. And with an RC booster stacked behind a Green Rhino I get so much gain that I can turn the MV down, play quietly at around 80dB and still get real feedback from my guitar. It's nuts. I've got some other speaker cabs that I want to try with it, but I don't know how it could get much better. Of course, I pretty much said that when I bought my Maz. Way to go, Z. Way to go!

As usual, comments on this amp make me more and more impatient to have it! Mine is now just around in Paris... Don't know for sure when the postman will knock on my door... or leave the paper for me to go pick the amp up even if there's somebody home (so deja vu here... ;-))
My strat and I are ready!
