I've got a Dr.Z Maz 18 NR 2x10 combo with the stock Dr.Z speakers in it which I bought new in 2009. It does not have the EQ bypass. I absolutely love the amp. I've used it in different environments such as auditoriums, ball rooms, clubs, even churches and with a variety of single coil and humbucker guitars.
Another guitar player I gig with uses a Maz 38 with a 2x12 cab. I've noticed that in venues that require lower volume, his 2x12 cab seems to have a more full sound. I feel that low end more which is nice. However, I really love the 2x10 because it has a nice punch to it.
I'm thinking of adding a 1x12 cab to either run in parallel with 2x10 or perhaps by itself in certain cases. Is this something you guys would recommend? Has anybody tried this? Which speaker config would you recommend in the 1x12 to pair with the stock Dr.Z 2x10?

Adding a 1x12 would be a good move and give you flexibility for the different venues you play. I am partial to Alnico speakers with EL84's so I would recommend Celestion Gold or Blue.

Poster above said it all. Get a 112 Dr. Z convertible cab with a Celestion gold and open up the back!

The gold is well...gold but if it's a little rich for your blood a Vintage 30 is a great alternative and only adds about $20 to the cost of a 1x12 Z cab as opposed to and additional $273. The V30 is what I have in mine and it's awesome. Z puts a lot of thought into their cabs so even the Heritage 30 it comes with will sound great but if you've got the green then go for the gold!

Thank you all for your help! I'm certainly going to get a Z 1x12 cab now. But I'm still not sure on which speaker. In addition to asking you guys, I also asked a few others: Don at Dr.Z, Brian at Humbucker music, and Matt at Chicago Music Exchange. As you probably know Humbucker and CME are Z dealers. Both Don and Brian recommended the G12H30 as a great compliment to the stock 2x10 Z speakers. Matt at CME on the other hand recommended either the Blue or the V30.
(Thinking out loud at bit) The Alnicos are a bit more than I want to pay right now. That might be a future purchase. That leaves either the H30, the V30, or the G12M Creamback (which I've not heard much about). From what I've read, the V30 is very similar to the H30 but with more mids. I've kind of got the mids covered really well with the 2x10s. So that leaves the H30 and the creamback. How similar are these? Is the difference subtle or night & day? Which would give me a more ballsy low-end to go with the 2x10, yet still sound good if I just used it by itself?

The V30 does have a strong mid range but it's tameable, the speaker is extremely balanced and clear. With that said, the V30 has bass to spare, I put one in an older Fendr amp I had and had to pull the bass down from 8 to 4 because of of well it handles and brought out the bass register. In the Z it's absolute gold, I played an 18 with the heritage and found it actually lacked the bass I was used to with my amp. Either way your rigid gonna sound awesome and speakers are an easy swap. Happy hunting!

Thanks guys! Cab has been ordered and I decided to go with the H30 for now. Like you guys said, if I don't like it I can always switch it out. Thanks again!
