Not come across this name before Pete but reading his background states ex Blackstar. Have had the Blackstar 1 watt head and currently have the Artisan 15 and ID15 combos which are from either end of the extremes of their designs .

I was introduced to them by one of our Z brothers over here - Stuart Dixon - who plays a Jaz20/40. He's just ordered one of their Custom heads and cabs, so I checked them out. The guy has some serious pedigree for sure, and it struck me that, with a couple of extra bells and whistles, the Ruby is VERY like a Therapy! They are kind of expensive too, so I'm told......... I'm not trying to push them in any way as I am delighted with my Therapy, but I found it interesting that a UK manufacturer is doing a hand crafted amp so similar to the Therapy......... maybe not that unusual? I don't know

Well...I don't know...
An amp that has three 12ax7 and two 6L6 is pretty popular.
Is there more to this?

Only is so far as he seems to have taken a leaf from the Doc's book and made a minimalist amp, built like a tank, very high quality components etc. etc. All reports say it sounds awesome. As I say though, it's way more expensive than a Therapy, even over here, and my Therapy is going nowhere! I just think we live in a rich and vibrant time for quality hand made amps......

Those are pretty amps, and prolly sound good as well. But there's just so many logical adjustments/changes you can do to the old Western Electric Amp Schematic. All the amps basically run on the same principles. Doc just has a way of finding the nuances to enhance the amps yielding not only better versions, but more versions of the original amplifier plan. There will always be guys out there trying to "upstart" their dream as an amp builder. But few will have the timing, the knowledge, the ear, and maybe the right luck to reproduce Doc's legacy.
