My Rt 66 has always hummed for a few seconds at start. Do your heads do this also.? I always figured it was just the Bias or B+ caps charging. It is just for 2-3 seconds when the amp first fires, and then it is perfectly quiet. Thanks

So I figured. I have an old magnatone with a GZ34...it does the same thing. Like I say, with the indirect heat, and the design of the circuit, I just assumed it took a few seconds for the Bias and/or B+ to stabalize. Anybody else.? Thanks Hmmmmm.......30 views. You guys do not know if your 66 Hums when you first turn it over.?

Mine is dead quiet at startup. 3 year old amp. Interesting...

The noise you talk about comes from the head itself? Mine sounds like a musical shimmering hum. I noticed that all of my amps do the same thing more or less but much, much quieter. I had to hold my ear right on some of the amps to hear the hum. It just last a second or so.

My 66 head has a similar hum, which dissapears or diminishes after it warms up. But it never failed, so I figured it is a normal thing. Any reason to worry?
