I had a 12" Greenback a few years ago that I thought was too dark for my Dr. Z Z-28 so I sold it. I got a Remedy and put a Creamback in a 12" cab and it's a good match. Tried the Z-28 with the Creamback and liked it too. Of course the Z-28 is now in a 10" combo cab as my grab and go.
So with that stated and wanting to keep the grab and go . . . will a 10" Greenback be worth a try in the combo cab ? Or do ya think it'll still be dark ?
FYI - I currently have a Red Fang in the combo cab. Excellent pairing but I really don't need the 102db rating and am looking for something a little smoother. That Red Fang will cut thru any mix ! !
Thanks - Al Z.

A 10" greenback will be SOOOOO much quieter than a Red Fang. I think the 10" gb is 95db. You might try a 10" gold (at 98db)

Last night I played my first job since swapping the Ramrod out of my Z28 for a Gold. I'm finished with speaker experimentation and my Z28.

When I had my Z-28 it lived for some time in a 1x10. I really loved the 10" Greenback with the Ghia and Monza but with the Z-28 I found it too dull. It killed the sparkle of the Z-28 for me.
I LOVED the 10" Gold with the Z-28 though. The punchy mids of the Z-28 were nicely rendered by the upper mids detail of the Gold both clean and broken-up. It was a great pairing for both my Tele and P90 LP. I did't have a humbucker guitar during my Z-28 tenure so I can't comment there.

The guitar I played last night was a Guild Bluesbird, which is a chamber-bodied instrument with Seymour Duncan 59ers at neck and bridge.
