Sometimes I wonder why I buy anything other than dirt pedals.

My weakness is Boost pedals. Searching for the perfect, for me, fuzz - perhaps the Diamond Blaze?

Nice compact board there by the way! How is that East River Drive?

Yeah, I have to keep my board pretty small because I'm one of those guys that gets "tone disphoria" if I have too many options. lol. I just play more guitar and fiddle less when I limit my options. Even though I am a pedal junkie. Can't resist a good overdrive!
I tell ya what, I really like that East River Drive. Supposedly, Analogman provided EHX with the closest possible recipe he could to get a classic 808 tone. It's straightforward, no nonsense TS. These little EHX pedals are actually well made when you open them up and look inside. Pretty cool for the price and made in the US. I dig what they've been putting out over the last several years.

My weakness is Boost pedals. Searching for the perfect, for me, fuzz - perhaps the Diamond Blaze? Yeah, I hear you. It amazes me how terribly hard it is to find the right fuzz!! They are very simple circuits (I've built several) but finding one that gels right with your pickups, amp, other pedals, etc. is a chore. That's probably why some end up with big collections of them. Delay - I've loved almost every one I've played. Overdrive - Never met one I couldn't get a decent tone from. Chorus - 50/50 success ratio Fuzz - Seems I only like 1 out of 5! Why is this??

Fuzz, I find, does not always play nice with the band. I love the different tones and all, but I tend to get lost in the mix. I find the same thing with too much distortion. Great tone alone, but buried in the mix of the band. Perhaps if I were the only guitarist, and there were no bass and drums, oh yeah, get rid of the vocals too... there wouldn't be any BAND!

The fuzz thing is very subjective IMO. There are the inherent volume/cut issues and then there's the whole dialing it into the room for that day element. I love the Caroline Cannonball with certain amps with others it's too buried to cut without major tweaking time. I still prefer that for an alternate lead tone to OD pedals b/c I feel they add too much gunk I don't necessarily want on my tone. I love a boost into a cooking amp to step out for solos and the fuzz combined makes for some killer lead sounds. Eddie-are you powering the EH with a one spot? I had noise issues w EH Holy grail plus a few years back on a one spot so I stopped buying their pedals. There's enough to worry about during a gig without concerning yourself over extraneous noise wash in your rig.

I felt it was closer to distortion than fuzz, but it can really get mean if you need it to. Do you have any other Caroline pedals? I like that company. Yes, I am using a One Spot for this board. I haven't noticed any noise issues with these pedals, though. I have a Jam Man that does NOT run quietly when daisy-chained with other pedals on the One Spot. I use a separate adapter for that and it's quiet. This board in the picture is actually extremely quiet considering it's three dirt pedals. All three (and the tuner, of course) have a very low noise floor - even when they are all on at once! Eddie

Eddie- the cannonball has a character to the clip that's similar to some fuzzes I like although I can hear the distortion characteristics at certain settings. It is a very useful and shapable pedal. The momentary footswitch is cool for the kill switch and once in a blue moon it's fun to do the noise thing with it in havoc position. I do like the breakup though and dig the sounds I can get out of it. I'd like to try some of their other pedals at some point. That's good to know about the EH and power. That opens up a can of worms for an all EH nano with a one spot powering it.....

Christopher,
I had a whistling sound when I ran my HG+ with anything but the 9.6V wall wart that came with it, but I run a Small Stone nano phase shifter using regular 9V board power and it works just fine. So maybe the nano sized EHX stomps are made differently.
Anybody else notice this?

I no longer have either, so I consider the problem solved. I've read that the HG is really picky when it comes to power supply. I'm not sure I've read anything like that when it comes to the nano pedals.

South- I got rid of the HG+ and haven't had a problem w any of my other pedals. Ive also kept both my one spots bc they take up less room than power supplies like the pp2+ and fuel tanks.

Agreed, Chris...
I'm done with my HG+ and am using a MXR Carbon Copy on one board and a Hardwire Delay/Looper on the other - and I'm using 1 spots on both boards.
I liked the HG+ but not if I had to accommodate it with a wall wart.

OD pedals are my weakness. I keep buying them even when I should be looking at some new modulation type pedals.

My weakness is Boost pedals. Searching for the perfect, for me, fuzz - perhaps the Diamond Blaze? Yeah I went through a one-knob boost pedal phase there for a while. Found some great pedals that I didn't have to spend a lot of time tweaking!
