Anyone tried one or in the know? The A25 kind of looks like a celestion blue clone, but playing it (the clip) with a tele and an 18watt doesn't really help a clean humbucker guy.

I have one, and it sounds great. I'm not a huge speaker snob, so I don't know which catchphrases or buzzwords to use. If you have any specific questions, though, ask away!

Sorry for the late response, but I bought a pair in a Traditional 2x12, and they sound great.
I've had blues and golds, and they seem to sit somewhere inbetween the two.
So far, so good. They have "that" sound for sure. They came broken in, so they sounded excellent right out of the box.

Thanks guys... I am trying to find a speaker that fits my 5D3 tweed deluxe. I had the original P12R re-coned by weber and it's frankly aweful. A tone tubby red alnico sound good... Have a c-blue on the way to try. I put an SA40 in and it's pretty interesting. Brighter than most, which is great for that amp... And very early breakup. I might have to try the SA40 in an ampeg jet I have (notoriously dark)... It might make it more usable.

I put the SA-40 in my '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. It's a cool sound.
I also have an Avatar Traditional 2x12" loaded with the Alnico 25 and Ceramic 25. The cab is wired so I can either run both speakers at 4 or 16 ohms, or I can choose one or the other (or run two amps through the same cab, each using one speaker) at 8 ohms.

I had a Clark Beaufort (5E3 Clone) with a weber alnico gold and that speaker sounded great in a one on one setting but like the blue in my Maz8 it lacked low end presence with a band despite the great tones coming out of the speaker. I had a red TT for a while with my Z-28. It was big but I felt it was really dark with that amp. A combo of them like ifailedshapes mentioned is spot on. Avatar makes a lightweight and resonant 2x12 and it sounds full when you mix the two. I miss the one I sold a few years back,

Sounds great to me.

Make me a deal this weekend... Get a killer lower volume Z amp.
