I was a long time Les Paul/Marshall player. I bought a Strat a few years back for my 40th, wasn't satisfied with the Marshall, and then partnered the Strat with the Maz Jr. I've switched the guitars and amps, but unless I really messed with the Maz's tone controls, I wasn't crazy about matching it with my Les Paul & P90s. That is until this morning. I'm not sure whether it's the new strings or just a fresh start to the day. I had the Les Paul sitting out and I plugged it into the Maz Jr with my normal Strat settings this morning. It was a blast to play, and it really sang. So, here's a quick bluesy jam featuring the Les on rhythm & lead with a Strat thrown in on the last go around for some comparison. www.MikeZBand.com/music/Jam_in_C.mp3I think that my Les Paul has a new buddy. The Marshall's glowing green with envy.

That's the beauty of the MAZ amps- versatility. Everything sounds good through them.

Guitarz- Great playing and great tone. I was beginning to think I was the only LP guy on this forum. Welcome to a very small club.

Heck, it's not only on the Z forum that LP folks seem to be out numbered by others. If I meet 25 guitar players, I'm lucky to find one that ever owned a Les Paul let alone is playing one now. I love the tone of my Strat and the way it plays, but my Les Paul reminds me of a machine. It is one rock solid consistent guitar.
Does your standard have P90s or humbuckers? The Ghia would seem like a good match for a LP given the fact that folks think that it can be kind of bright.
Maybe we'll attract a few more LP players our way.
Thanks for the comments.

My Standard has the Burstbucker Pros in it. When I first Got the Ghia it was a little bright on the top end with the Buckers too but I made a few changes in tubes and it was magic. The great thing about these amps is you seem to be able to tune them to fit your pick ups and style. I'd like to try it now with the P90's just to compare. When my Maz Jr gets here I figure I'll have to do a little tube tuning with that amp also.

Good sounds. Can a Maz Jr. be too far in the future here?

Les Paul is and has been my main instrument. Unless the music calls for something specific. Then I'll whip out the strat and tele.
But for right now, I'm REALLY enjoying the LP with the Route 66. I don't like the LP with the MAZ as much.

Good sounds. Can a Maz Jr. be too far in the future here? I think it should be! I can't imagine you not having just about every base covered with what you already have in addition to the MAZ 18. Super design- J

I thought that I recognized this thread. I see that you have a Ghia. I'll tell you what, my Les Paul really rocks with my three month old Ghia.
Cheers! We're gaining numbers. I just saw that nice Gold Top over in the "My New Gold Top" thread in the lounge. Look out!

Very nice, GuitarZ. I like what you have going there. I am a life-long, unapologetic Gibson fan. I have no P90s lately, but it is hard to find a bad tone from my Maz Jr with Burstbucker Pros or '57 Classics.

Look out! ;D There is a LOT of Lester owners around here, most of us in a former life But we still own a few and pull them out on occasion. I started on them and currently own two. Don has "several"
