Just did a fun bluesy take on a backing track called Spare Frog. It's my strat (bridge and middle pups) into an Ibanez delay into the Maz 18 NR; no other effects. Volume 3:00, treble @ 1:00, mid @ 12:00, bass @ 12:00, master @ 11:00 and cut @9:00. Oh yeah. I'm also using a Weber mini mass to keep the volume down. ;D It's kind of a funky, bluesy, jazzy, country thing. Hope it's OK. media.putfile.com/Spare-Frog

No not tonight. Just did a trip to Calgary to visit my favourite tech though. Genius, he would have to be to work on Stevie Wonder's keyboards. The deluxe needed some work but all is well now.

Great playing Gary. Had lots of feel to it and yours strat tones were juicy and warm. Sounds like your new pickups are working just fine, oh yeah.

As usual Gary, that is some great playing...youve got a great "feel". About 30 seconds in, it sounds like youre about to rip off on some slide work but then you go back to what is obviously fretted notes...was that "slide" done with the whammy bar?

No actually that is a little trick I made up after listening to Roy Buchanon years ago.....I grab both the B & G strings together and stretch them up picking the B string, back down and do the same with the G string but letting the B string sustain the whole time. I do it with my 3rd finger on the b7th ( on the B string). It's a standard slide lick but I do it without the slide. I've been doing it for years but this is the first time anyone ever commented on it. I'm glad you did. I guess I finally know it had the desired effect.

Gary maybe you can post a video showing that technique? If you have time of course. Great playing again. Steve I feel your pain. The Computer gives you just a taste, enough to leave ya beggin for more. Now the computers are teasing us.

I'm running the XP Pro x64 OS here, and Quicktime is very lame on this OS. I'd download the file, but putfile doesn't give you that option that I can see...

Actually my associations for mp3 files ARE to Windows Media Player. This stupid Quicktime sets itself up as the default player in Internet Explorer, and every time I change it, it immediately puts itself back. I could shoot the programmer on this one...

Hey Gary, I was over to Doolittle's for some supper and a POP today. They have the "Jam Band" playing there every Saturday (3-7) and different musicians are always sitting in. Good music. Anyhow, in the middle of a solo, the guitar player pulls off your signature move. At least it sure sounded like it. I had to check the other side of the stage to see if they pulled a steel player out of thin air. Sounded just like a steel man. (using tele/buckers and a big ole sf twin) By any chance you to friends?

I've never heard anyone around town do that lick 'cept me though and I've pretty well worn it out. I'll have to get in to Doolittles sometime soon. I have my boy on the weekends and he pretty well ties me down so I haven't been doing much weekends or playing since his mom & I split. No regrets though. But I'm getting an extreme hankerin' to get back into it very shortly.
