What do you guys recommend for a heavy duty speaker cable to run from amp head to cabinet? I'm in the market for a few extras and I'd like something road worthy and heavy duty that will last. I heard that the lower the gauge wireing the better. Is this true?

The lower the number the thicker the wire. For example, 12 gauge is thicker than 14 gauge. Hope this helps Todd

I've got 12 gauge from PCNS but I would get 14 gauge next time. I only got the 12 gauge because I was using them with a Radial Headswitcher and they recommended that size.
Great cables and service !!

It's "better" if you are doing long runs , but unnecessary for typical amp head-to-cab situations. 14 AWG is plenty to handle the current.

DC here!
Check out Evidenc Audio's cables. I have the HG Lyric for my guitar and the Siren II between my cab and head. The difference with the HG Lyric is very noticeable compared to other brands. Open and airy in the middle and treble, deeper and tighter in the bass.
The difference between the Siren II and my supra 2,5 square-mm cable not so much.
I'd have to say that at least the HG Lyric is the best money can buy.
Cheers: Dixiechicken!

I've used 3 foot Monster speaker cables for years, but should probably order a couple from Todd before y'all show up and burn my house down.
(I do have two of his mic cables, though)

Todd uses good wire. It is stranded wire and the strands are small gauge wire. This gives you more outside circumference in the wire. Current travels on the outside of a wire so with a bunch of small wires you have more area. That's why you see wielding cables with real small strands. It will carry more current. Stranded #12 wire carries more current than solid #12.

Placed me an order with PCNS today for a 4-ft speaker cable (head to cab) in red, no less, to match my Z head & cabs. I just know I'm going to sound even better; I need all the help I can get.
