I listened to "Irish Tour" today. I forgot what a monster this guy was! I saw the video on YouTube yesterday and bought his biography. Highly recommended.

You are so right! In fact Rory was my very first idol: first live gig, first record purchased. Irish Tour is a milestone!

The band plays a few Rory tunes. One of the best. Under appreciated by the masses, but loved by those who know.

LOVED his straight-ahead approach. No fancy stuff, just played. RIP

I saw Rory back in the early 70's at The Whiskey - he tore it up. But there was some weird English band called Tempest who opened for him. The guitar player was playing a 335 into a BF Fender stack of some sort - it was Allan Holdsworth. Two great players and two great styles for the price of one.

Last summer, when I was in London I found out there is a Rory Gallagher Festival every spring.

Love Rory-I can't play like him,But I will always keep trying to get the same amount of emotion that he had. Now playing-Bourbon.
