Hi guys, Please bear with me - I'm not looking for your favourite fuzzes, as I am playing a HOT Therapy, so a good fuzz through clean amp is no good for me. I want your experiences on playing fuzz through a DIRTY amp, and I'm NOT looking for singing smooth sustain - I want rude, rude, rude sounds Any experience??

Hi Pete
I've not yet played a Therapy, so this is a general comment. I've had great luck with the Tonebender-flavor into dirt. The Basic Scarab Deluxe is a mainstay for me. Really melts into whatever you've got going on incl. another dirt pedal. I got into using fuzzes like this when I had a Remedy.
Another fuzz I loved into the dirty Remedy as well as my current Swart AST is the Analogman Astrotone.
Some folks really like the Analogman Sunbender (Tonebender 1.5) into dirty amps too.
Also check out your fellow UK-ite Jimmy Behan. His builds are fantastic and I'm sure can set you up with exactly what you need in case US builders like Basic Audio, Analogman, or Lumpy's (my fave 3) are expensive due to export duties and such.

For me the Zvex Fuzz Factory ( vexter series )has been the magic fuzz for cutting thru and not getting overly compressed which is what happens most with an overdriven amp and a Big Muff style fuzz. If you want rude I'd at least consider it. It's not to hard to tame and figure out how the controls work. The only thing I don't think it works well with is using your guitar volume to turn down much, unless you want more nasty.

Fuzz faces work great info dirt, but, just like Ted, I've had good results with both Soulbender and Astro Tone, but they're very different: lots of gain and fuzz for the Soulbender, much less gain and clearer voice on the Astro Tone (one of the few fuzz I miss).

Funnily enough, I was looking at a Fuzz Face Mini Si model......... readily available, and relatively cheap over here. It's just for a few songs...... these days I am playing most songs just straight into the amp, but I'm now enjoying effects for their own sake to mix things up! Now that I have a Therapy, I realise just how much I was relying on effects pedals, especially OD types, to enhance my general tones, whereas now, it's the other way around! And I'm quite enjoying the fun of it all

If I were sitting down with a FF and a dirty amp I'd start with less saturation and more volume at the amp, max the the FF, and roll my git knob back until I get that awesome jangly, gritty cleaninsh thing Fuzz Face give up. Then roll up the GV and GO!

I run my Remedy pretty dirty and have all of my stuff going through that. I admit the delay could sound better if I clean up the amp tone but I don't really need that kind of clarity with the kind of stuff I'm doing now. All of the fuzzes that I've owned over the years go into a dirty amp. Right now though, I've got a skreddy clone that sounds incredible.

A fuzz factory into a dirty amp is cool. The fuzz factory lacks low end on most settings, so when it goes into a driven amp it fits nice in the mix.. you can increase the high end by rolling off the guitar volume just a bit too if you need more clarity. It's really a cool pedal. I stick with the "fuzz face" settings and it's awesome.
Also I hate big muff pedals so don't worry about it sounding at all like that.
Other than that, +1 on the MK 1.5 clones.

In the fuzz faces family, this one, pointed by Lefty in that topic, shows great results into a dirty amp...

For nasty I really like my EQD Dream Crusher into my Maz 38 set up loud and dirty. It gets pretty rude and nasty with the gain up on the pedal. Granted my Maz 38 isn't set up really dirty, but i push it quite a bit and the Dream Crusher still sounds nasty.

I picked up a Caroline Cannonball last week and have used it for two shows. It has a very smooth fuzz voice and can get rude. To my ears it's what I want in a coloring stomp.

I hope I'm hijacking this thread. Do you mind sharing your Scarab Deluxe settings? I just a got one and it's one of the best pedals I've ever heard. However, with the band I find I'm having trouble cutting through with it through my Remedy. Thanks, Eric Hi Pete I've not yet played a Therapy, so this is a general comment. For distorted or clean amps - AnalogMan NKT274 White dot (germanium) and Prescription Electronics Experience Octave fuzz (silicon). They also happen to be my favorites.
