This is a fantastic amplifier. It has a really wide tonal palette. So far, after only a couple of hours, I like to keep it set fairly clean this is with the treble set a bit higher at 2:00, mids at noon and bass at around 11:00 so it's fairly bright with the Master up around 2:00 and Volume around 10;00 then egg it on with the Volume knob to get the crunch. A clean boost works really well with the Therapy and I have a treble booster incoming as well which should be great.
I also have a Z28 and find myself duplicating the settings on the Therapy to sound like my Z28. While both amps can sound really close the Therapy has more "separation" between the highs and lows (it's more spatial if that makes sense) and with the added Mids control there are lots of sounds there that the Z28 can't duplicate. I think I could definitely be very happy with just the Z28 but the Therapy has a special quality all it's own. It also sounds really good at bedroom levels with the Volume cranked and the Master set low.
it's a bit of a Swiss Army Knife but it is also highly dynamic and simplistic (best of both worlds, really!). Personally I have listed (2) amps and sold one that I no longer need since playing my new Therapy.
I'm using a Dr Z 1x12 covertible cab with a Celestion Gold and also a Z-Best 2x12 cab with a V30 and a G12H Anniversary

I'll post a pic tonight. It's a killer looking amp especially sitting on my Blonde / Tan Z-Best cab I am digging it through my Dr.Z Convertible 1x12 w/ a C. Gold as well (sadly that cab is black and tan. lol)

Funny how some say it is such a clean amp and others think it is very dirty. Guitars seem to make a lot of difference.

Funny how some say it is such a clean amp and others think it is very dirty. Guitars seem to make a lot of difference. Keep Vol moderate and it stays clean. At really low settings it can handle quite hot pickups without generating much dirt. So one approach goes like this: Say I want to stay clean up to 8 on my guitar volume. Set my axe to 8, twist Vol until the amp starts to break up, back off a little and there you are. Going above 8 moves into dirt. Use Master for overall output. It's been said that dialing the amp in is very intuitive. +1 Added: The choice of where on the guitar volume will probably be based on the taper of the pot and your preference. For example, my LP comes on really strong between 9 and 10. If I choose "8" for clean, 9 is giving me crunch and 10 is saturating.

Yep! +1 ^
It has plenty of gain and can definitely get really gritty when you turn the Volume past noon. Keeping the Volume up (even with the Master Up) it has plenty of crunch. ^Turn the Master down with the Volume up makes it is a very dirty girl indeed and does darken the tone a bit as well, that's where a clean boost really helps.

Funny how some say it is such a clean amp and others think it is very dirty. Guitars seem to make a lot of difference. Setting guitars aside for the moment, it is important to understand the incredibly dynamic range of this amp wrt the interaction of the MV and the V knobs. The Therapy can be very clean; it can be very dirty - all with the same guitar........... ..... then when you start guitar swapping, you can exaggerate the differences between clean and dirty........ then you can enhance that with the TMB knobs........... I've said it many times, and it's worth repeating, this amp does not have ONE sweet spot, or ONE "special" tonal position - it has a GREAT many, and I will be happy spending the rest of my life exploring them! Really.

Agreed but, touch has everything to do with that! so I wouldn't say it's all about the guitars involved but more how you work the guitars involved to reach your desired tone...............................
