Almost sold off the Jaz! I was having a tough time with it's breakup at higher volumes during gigs. I was missing some of the 6v6 sparkle of say a deluxe reverb.
I switched from the stock G12H30 to a well broken on Weber 12f150 and there it was! Sounds like a Deluxe reverb on steroids!
The G12H30 inly has about 10-20 hrs on it so it still may need some break in time.

Both of my Z's have been really responsive to speakers and like you has helped to get the sound I was looking for. Really cool to me to see the amps be so connected to every part.
Congrats on finding the right combo and hope you enjoy it for many moons.

John, I would think your speaker needs about another 20 hours of break in.

Hard to compare on this end b/c my JAZ has the Doc's 2/10 configuration. They're very good and responsive. Glad you figured out what works for your tones. I bet it's a little lighter, too.

If I remember correctly, somebody recently posted an excellent-sounding video/audio clip of the JAZ with the 12F150. A fantastic speaker--I love mine. Seems like it's a great fit with the JAZ.

I thought it was an overall improvement when I changed my JAZ to a 2x10 configuration. I've had a couple of different 10's in it but I wound up settling on 'Z' speakers. I've also tried it with a 12" Celestion Gold and a WGS Blackhawk HP. Both sounded better to me than the stock G12H30.

I'm an admitted Weber speaker fan and his 12F150 and 12A150 are two of my favorite 12" speakers. For 10", the 10A125 is a real gem. I have never had a G12H30 but breakin time is really important prior to judging a speaker. The only one I've owned that sounded just as good out of the box as when fully broken in was the Cele Gold 12".

I did a lot of speaker testing when I first got my combo. It came with 2 Z 10's and I just could not bond with them, I think it was the mids. I converted it to a single 12 and stuck a gold in there and it came alive. I have a second cab with a gold and when I run them together it sounds HUGE.
I say this in almost every JAZ post, (hoping Doc will bring it back) but the JAZ is the most underrated Z amp and needs to go back into production. To me it is one of the most versatile amps ever made.

For 10", the 10A125 is a real gem. This is true. The 150-series is a bit "much" in the 10" size, especially if you're gonna have multiple of them in 1 cab, but the 125 is fabulous.
