It's here. Briefly, it's the most inspiring amp I've ever played in 46 years. I'll post some pictures tomorrow, right now I'm going back to playing. What a fine instrument... Way to go, Dr. Z.

Sure looks great in the Surf Green. Going to mount the Brakelite this morning. I tried it out with a broken in Celestion Blue and the G12H30 that it came with...my wife thinks the G12H30 is way better in terms of the high end, which really surprised me. I thought that the Blue sounded mellower on the top, with better sheen. I actually like both speakers, and I've got a 1X12 semi open back cab that would fit right underneath the Maz 8, so I may just get a 'Y' cord and run 'em both. I have to tell you guys...you were right. I love this amp's voice. Like I mentioned, it is inspiring. Here's the thing: Every other amp I've owned has prompted me to pick up my soldering iron and make a better amp. The Maz 8 prompts me to pick up my guitar and make me a better musician.

So, do I REALLY need all these pedals? The jury's definitely out but it sure sounds like Rock 'n Roll heaven with a 335, OCD>Timmy>Maz 8. What a tone, not too noisy either. The thing about this amp is that it can sound like it's coming off the rails but it maintains it's string to string, note for note balance. Great definition with gnarly distortion. I've never played anything like it. Like I said earlier, other amps make me pick my soldering iron up. This one makes me pick up my guitar.

Nice lookin rig...should keep you busy...look into the tube suggested (nos/jan Phillips 12at7wc) for reverb slot (v3) to quiet it down more....
If necessary

Nice lookin rig...should keep you busy...look into the tube suggested (nos/jan Phillips 12at7wc) for reverb slot (v3) to quiet it down more.... If necessary Thanks...it comes with a JAN 6189 in there right now, which is a 12AU7. Great reverb. I did substitute a TAD 7025S in at V1 which sounds really nice. I've done a lot of research about this topic, and I'm breaking the speaker in, too. Very carefully! Some guys say to hook up to a variac and adjust to the voltage you need. Being a failure analysis guy, I am using a 12 volt filament transformer powered with a variac, so I can't exceed a safe voltage, and can set it to precisely the voltage I want. A little precaution that will keep the magic smoke inside the voice coil. Also, I took pains to ensure that the speaker was not overheating or being stressed, both in regards to temperature and sound quality. So far I've run the G12H30 in at 8.5 volts as measured on a Fluke Model 87 True RMS DMM, for about 12 hours. This voltage is slightly less than 1/3 it's rated power handling capacity. It is definitely sounding sweeter as the spider and surround loosens up. I'm a skeptical guy when it comes to 'breaking in' electronic equipment but a speaker has physical qualities and it makes sense to me that they would benefit from being loosened up by this process. Time will tell, and I'll let you know what I find.
