I keep seeing folks asking about humbuckers (probably more so on the Stingray forum) so I started wondering about my Mazerati and my PRS. I use that guitar for slide only, and it's a pretty dark sound. So I got the recorder working again and played with the amp until I thought it sounded about right. Not bad - I may not have to haul the Flexi out with the Mazerati after all. Just a tad of an adjustment on the volume and tone and it's right there! Cool! Check it out: MotherlessChildren002.mp3 (715 KB mp3 file) Volume: 3:30 o'clock Tone: 2 o'clock

Really nice. I'm the world's worst slide player. I always put the slide over where my finger usually goes instead of over the fret so I'm always out of tune.

Patient: Doc, it hurts when I do this. Doc: Then don't do that!

how did you record it? I've been having problems getting my z to sound full on tape (it sounds great in the room). Did you use a condenser or a dynamic?

how did you record it? I've been having problems getting my z to sound full on tape (it sounds great in the room). Did you use a condenser or a dynamic? I have a Rode NT1 large diaphragm condenser sitting about five feet in front and to the side, and facing 90 degrees to the amp. So you are getting a lot of the room too, which isn't necessarily good - that room doesn't have the greatest sound - but I think it better represents what your ears hear. I mean no one sticks their ear right down in front of the cab, with the ear hole half way between the dust cap and the outer rim, do they? Full recording path: Mazerati > Rode NT1 > Alesis Studio 32 > Echo Layla > Sound Forge 5.0
