Hey, gang... Here are some new demos of my Z's. All three clips were recorded with no effects. Used Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3, mic'ed the amps straight into my computer's sound card. Dunlavey D'axe (Custom Strat with Brazillian RW board & Lindy Fralin Vintage Hots) Into: Dr. Z MAZ 38 2 12" combo. One ceramic Weber Blue Dog, and one ceramic Weber Silver Bell. Dr. Z MAZ 18 2 10" combo. Weber ceramic 10V. By the way, the 10V is still for sale! A bit too ballsy for me... J www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=465770

Hey Jayson, really nice tones and playing! You could really hear the difference between the Blue Dog and the Silver Bell, good job on the recording. Those clips are gonna help me when it comes time to do some speaker swapping. Thanks!

Ha! I did those clips in my bedroom... And the only mic I had laying around was a 58. Would have rather used a 57....but the 58 worked fine. Worked great for Buddy's clips on the Lentz site. Those clips are about as basic as you can get. Just guitar, cord, & amp. And a Weber mini-MASS if you count that. I have to keep my 4 year old during the day while my wife is at work... So if I didn't use the mini- MASS I'd hear: "DAAAAAADDYYYYYYY!! It'S TOO LOUD! Dora's on!!" She's a trip.... J

Jayson, You just sold another amp for the Doctor! I have been jonesing after a MAZ Jr or Sr for a year now to add to the Z stable, but could not decide which one. I'm going to call my dealer today and order a Sr. May I ask you two questions about your clips? First, was that MAZ Sr reverb equipped or a NR model? Second, what were the settings? Thanks!

J Ahhh, you just hafta get her used to it A little while back I was crankin up my Maz...my step daughter (15) walks in with my oldest daughter (13) and is trying to tell me something...I keep playing...she looks at my daughter and says "it's LOUD!" my daughter looks over at her and without even dropping a beat and says "no it's not"! That's my girl!!! They quit covering thier ears a long time ago...the dogs still run and hide, but that's a good thing. Sometimes our Boston Terrier (Buddy) will stick around and sing...he's a little off pitch.

Both of my Z's have 'verb. So what you are hearing on the clips is the reverb in the amp. Didn't add any with my software... Depending on room, venue, etc- my knobs are usually in the ballpark of these- and this is how they were set for the clips.... Volume- 12 O'clock Treble- 12 " " Mid- 1 " " Bass- 11 " " Master- 5 " " (Wide open) Reverb- 8 " " Cut- 8 " " The reverb in my MAZ Sr is a bit too lush for my tastes- hence the low setting. I basically have the knob turned right to the point where the reverb comes on. On my MAZ Jr, I turn the reverb up to around 9 o 'clock. Bear in mind I don't use much verb in general- just a splash. J

Great playing as usual Jayson. Nice tones (I had to use a 58 for my clips too). I love your minimalist approach that shows the Z's goods. Yeah volume is an issue for home recording (some of the best stuff gets captured at 2 am right?) I have a separate soundproofed room (for my drumkit) that I can crank my Z-best in. If some of you guys don't really like to attenuate and still like to get some volume for home recording, building a custom iso-box is an excellent solution. You can knock a lot of db's down with some basic carpentry skills.

Really nice Jayson. The tones really fit the style and mood of the playing. Different style than I'm used to hearing you play. Nice to hear the other side. The 58 did a good job of capturing the sound.
Nice - very nice.
Cheers,
Shawn

Thanks Jayson...very nice, you also helped me decide on my next speakers..."Silver Bells, Silver Bells, it's Speaker Swap Time for my Z-hee, ring-a-ling, hear them sing, soon it will be Speaker day"
