I just picked up this album from iTunes to listen to while mowing the lawn. I am a big Tom Petty and Mike Campbell fan. Really like this album so far. Got me to thinking, bands that have been around for awhile, I pretty much prefer their earlier stuff. I have to say the reverse seems to be true with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. I think this album and Mojo are my two favorites of theirs.
I think I just like listening to Campbell play the guitar.
Just some random thoughts while mowing the lawn and refilling my coffee.

Yea I like the last two quite a bit as well. Interesting that they appear to not be doing As well commercially. However I wonder is it because the band is not as interested in writing a "hit" or if it is the changing music industry. (Ie less big label promo etc)

Heard the whole album on the radio. I liked every track. I might have to pick this up.

I'll be picking this one up eventually. I've heard a few of TP's shows on Sirius XM and have heard much of a the album on that show and really liked what I've heard. Even the simplest-structured songs are so well crafted such as this one. Love it.

Couple artists that have been around for a while who put out great records much later in their careers....
I like the last 2 Tom Petty records a ton.
Cheap Trick "The Latest" from a few years is as good as anything they have ever done. Stellar. Marshall Crenshaw "Jaggedland" also stands tall with all of his records. Possibly my favorite.

I'll have to pick this one up. I didn't use to be a big Tom Petty fan, but the more I've heard over the years, the more I've started to enjoy his music. Not to mention Mike Campbell's playing. He's a great player.

Not to mention Mike Campbell's playing. He's a great player. Definitely. Been listening a lot. All the songs are good, and a few really stand out for me, e.g., Fault Lines.

I've been listening to Mojo and Hypnotic Eye a lot lately. Both these albums are fanatic. I love this track from Mojo. It's pretty badass. Mike Campbell is a beast!. Such great tone!

He's one of my all-time favourite artists, ad I like this one much better than 'Mojo', which is a great Rock album, btw. I have it both on CD and vynyl, and the latter is unbeatable!! Tons of tone!!
