You might want to post this in the "Ask the Experts" area , in the Ask Myles or Chad thread. Myles is the resident tube guru. I'm not an expert , but I think the 6SN7 is a preamp tube.

My teacher has what he says are "6SN7 tubes that were on the battefields during World War II" I wanted to know if I could swap them for the 6l6's that come stock in a EZG 50. Thanks NO YOU CAN NOT DO THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!

They are octal preamp tubes, not power tubes. Kinda like a fat 12ax7.

The pinout is totally different. 12AX7's are twin triodes. 6SN7's are not. Thank goodness the Dr. is watching over us.
