I mentioned I'd pick up a JAZ if it were @$1500. Jaguarguy(Mike) had his listed in BST and I got it. She arrived today in a Line6 box which was cool b/c then I knew no one in the shipping world would want to steal it! Anyhow, she's only been home a few hours but I love it. I can't believe this amp is not in production anymore and I feel fortunate to have it complete my Z 6V6 amp collection. My initial impressions of the amp are that it's hard to find a bad sound and it reminds me of a Vibrolux I had but in better ways. For one, there's only a single channel. There's the option to put it at half power (cool but I prefer the full 40W) and the dual tens are similar to the F style ones with one major exception-they sound good. There's a boatload of low end in this amp and when I compared it side by side w my Z28 it's much brighter. Did I mention the JAZ is barely breathing when the '28 is starting to come into her own. The breakups are different between the two amps and so is the response. By that, I mean the JAZ is faster, snappier and almost more modern and the '28 has more give and raunch. I attribute it to the rectifier and tube compliment difference. The brightness and snap could also be the 10s talking. The amp is in stellar shape and I don't know how much real world action she's seen. She sounds awesome though and I can't wait to have a room worthy of her presence. I know this thread is worthless without pics but they are currently on my phone. I'll get them up at some point. Back to work b/c the kids have a pile of after school things today and I just finished the yard. More to come. Thanks again Mike!

Congratulations. The JAZ is the only Z still on my "would like to own someday" list. I appreciate the comparison to the Z-28 which is my all time favorite amp.

Played that one at the mini Zfest and it did sound wonderful. Especially liked the verb on it. I really liked it with the two 10s. It's got a Maz front end and the Maz sounds great with two 10s also. You got a fine amp.

Glad you're digging it, but I knew you would As you said, not a bad sound in there, but we look forward to hearing about various settings you like. It is bright -- you can almost use treble as a presence control -- but it's also got a whopping low end.

Doctorice-no kidding. There's monstrous booty in the trunk of this amp. I spent some quality time w her today at both 20 & 40 and various guitars. It's impressive how much shaping the EQ provides and when the extras are added on it's heavenly. I can go from surf to chew with a twist of a dial. The 20 w break up is fab but the 40w gets me to black crowes territory. Did I mention the 290 with this is scary cool? Lots a gain available but not in a fizzy way more crispy without the gristley sibilance. I will try to share my settings next week via videos and posts. Good thing the band has a wedding in a couple weeks so she can get the call.
