Does it want to rock too? Not a lot of videos out there for the RX Jr and so it's hard for me to figure it out. One has come up local and I may pick it up just to see if anyone else wants it in a trade for another Z, but before I get to serious...
I've heard it with a Tele and country licks...does it want to do more? The one I'm looking at has MV on back and overdose in Red 1x12 combo.
Any info most likely would help me
Thanks

It can definitely rock. But it is quite a bit different than say a ghia or monza. It's one of the brightest Z amps I've played. Where the ghia shines in the midrange, the RX doesn't really do that. It has more of a low-mid scoop and somewhat emphasizes the high mids. I used it with a Tele mostly, but shines with buckers as well.
It also had more of a grainy type OD, where the ghia is a little smoother IMO. With the right OD pedal however, the RX can cover all the basses and rock out. The RX loved my TS style OD pedals.
What the Rx is perfect for IMO, is those on the edge of break-up clean tones. The master volume is one of the best I have heard or used. You can easily get some light OD or hairy tones and keep the volume in check.
Speakers also make a difference. I found brighter speakers to be almost unusable for my tastes and ears. A greenback g12m works great with it, even a broken-in celestion blue works too (I can't stress enough that the blue must be broken in).
Hope that helps.

Yes the RX Jr can rock. I think it sounds pretty Marshally, especially with one or two greenbacks.

Definitely a grittier OD and like has been said, shines on the edge of breakup. With my last band I was using a RxJr (open back cab, V30/G12H) for everything from Pete Anderson style Tele licks to full on Nirvana grunge with 'buckers and a Wampler Hot Wired.
IMHO: its one of the most versatile amps the good Doc has made.

How much is it like the M12?
The M12 matches that discription to a "T" (bright, killer breakup, pedal friendly). I have an M12 and a KT-45 does the Rx Jr compare to either of these amps?

Great question...me also curious. I'm sure the 'similar but different' thing applies but.....we'll let those in the know let us know.

To me, the M12 is pretty different in the mids. It has a somewhat sweeter top end, with a softer, mid-forward voice. The Rx is more aggressive with a brighter top end and a ton of bass on tap. The mid frequency emphasis lies in different areas with each one.
The M12 controls allow you to bring the mids forward if needed, or scoop them a little. The Rx takes pedals good, but the M12 was easier to dial in with overdrives and other effects. The Rx was my main amp for about 4 years and I used all sorts of ODs, so I'm not saying it doesn't work good.
Some liken the M12 to the Zwreck, and I can tell they are cousins, but the M12 is definitely not the Zwreck offspring IMO. So if the M12 is in the Zwreck vein, the Rx Jr is in the StangRay vein, with more OD available.

SWeet...hmmm That sounds pretty cool, the StangRay always get described as super 3d and swirly ... I tried to trade that white dlx strat I have up for sale for it but was denied. Maybe I'll have to watch it for a bit and see if he changes his mind or puts a price on it. He has one of those make me an offer ads with no price and listed Higher end Fenders as his trade bait...I guess my deluxe with a ding on it isn't considered high end enough. Figures , I'm no tuxedo myself.
Thanks jessim for the stellar comparison.
