I'm new to Dr Z amps and this forum. I'm coming from tweed and BF fenders. I picked up an older brown front Maz 18 Jr head at GC. I found the getting to know your maz thread very helpful because I love clean headroom. I just happened to have lots of tubes kicking around. I put a 5751 in V1, a TS 12AX7 in V2 and an EH 12AY7 as the inverter. I also installed a pair of EH 84s.
The clean headroom is unbelievably loud, punchy, yet smokey and vox like. I love this amp! So many useful tones at useful volumes especially with the zair brake that I've treasured for years. I use pedals for distortion and overdrive. I've yet to find a tone I didn't like. I play everything from Radiohead inspired odd-timed experimental originals, to funk, reggae, punk, heavy and blues. Anyway the only issue is the boost.
I read and searched the forum yesterday and didn't see this issue. When I plug in the boost cable it engages and sounds ballsy. But when I push the bypass switch on the boost pedal multiple times it doesn't restore the tone stack to the clean sound. It didn't work before I changed all the tubes either. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Probably some oxidation on the jack. Try cleaning it with Deoxit 5 or other contact cleaner.

Thanks! The deoxit did it only it's the switch itself. The jack seems fine.

Glad it worked out , I thought about the switch but figured it had been ruled out. And welcome to the forum!
