I have been thinking about picking up an analogman fuzz for a while and am intrigued by many of them, but keep coming back to the 109 specifically because he mentions it is the "floyd fan" one to get and that it may cut better as it is a bit brighter.
I normally seem to like germanium better than silicon, but Analogman's silicons seem closer to germanium that some others (no hard evidence here, just a feeling I have) while benefiting from the more stable nature and lower cost.
So, with that said, does anyone own one, have played one and better yet, compared one to any other Analogman germanium or silicon?
For reference, I typically use a 1963 ri Gibson ES335 into a MAZ 18Jr. reverb 1x12 combo set fairly hot. I also use Fender strats and teles on occasion.
Thanks,
Scott

Yes, I've had both of his Ge and Si fuzz's. Both are great. I preferred the Si over the Ge just for the amount of fuzz, I like my fuzz's fuzzy. I have however sold off both of them. You might check out the Dunlop mini fuzz's. I have the dark blue Si fuzz, and it's wonderful at a fraction of the cost. I would like to eventually get the JH (lighter blue) Dunlop mini fuzz, still Si, but warmer.

I really like germanium fuzz. The hotter the better. And I love the way they clean up with the guitar volume. Silicon are too tight for me. They are thinner and don't typically clean up like I want them to.
I own a AnalogMan 108 and a germanium 272 or is it 274? I don't remember. Much like Lefty did with his, I have removed fuzz from my board (not Octave fuzz).
It's a matter of preference as to which one you might choose. Hopefully you can audition one before a purchase. That ES guitar will probably blow the amp up with any fuzz.

scottcioe, I have both the A/M NKT-275 (Ge) w/ sundial and BC-108 (Si) sun faces. The more "vintage-y" NKT-275 is a little softer, fluffier, and would probably get lost in a mix easier--but it does sound cool. But as soon as I fire up that BC-108 it's like, "holy heck, this thing RIPS!"
I bought my Ge one first, and then the Si one. But honestly if you're only gonna get one, I think the Si is more versatile and will definitely stand better on its own. (I would agree that the Si one would be better for Floyd/Dark Side than the Ge one.)

I love the Screwdriver and wish I didn't sell it, but I bought a Monza to replace it. The Monza does not replace it, because it's different When will I learn. Skreddy seems to be a really cool company just like Analogman, both seem to roll a little different from the mainstream. The Monza loves dirt pedals.
