OK I have a bunch of tube dampers coming in. So do those silcone rings work on bigger tubes too? I bought some to try but have never used them except for what already came with the Dr. Z amps.

Depends on the size you got... they come in different sizes for different tubes. One size will fit 12AX7, EF86, and EL84. But you need a bigger size to fit 5AR4s, etc.
They do work. I have them in several of my amps. If it's a combo, where the tubes are hanging down behind the speaker, they may not get rid of ALL the ringing, but they still quiet it down quite a bit. I'm a believer.

They worked well for me in a Fender Pro Jr - any EL84's that I would use would rattle (almost a zinging sound) like crazy - drove me nuts. Got the dampers from Herbie's Audio Lab, and they worked great at stopping the rattle. Do they make the amp sound better (other than not making annoying noises, except ones I make?), increase bass response, cure cancer, etc. along with all the other things that they're supposed to do? I can't tell the difference, honestly. I just don't have sensitive enough ears. However, it was well worth the money for the dampers just to get rid of the dang rattle.
i've thought about getting them for my 70's Fender Bassman (as they do make them in 6L6 sizes) and my Maz Sr, but since neither of those rattle, being heads rather than combos, I've had a hard time justifying a reason (see above about not being able to hear a difference).
