Okay, I've had my Therapy for about 2 weeks now. I got to play it with my son's youth group praise band every night for a week and then use it for a Sunday morning service at church.
I've already commented on the smooth overdrive (actually, with a hot set of pups it will get pretty gritty), and I've also commented on the thick fat cleans. Honestly the cleans blew me away, getting dirty you can do with a dirt box if needed (you don't need it with this amp by the way) but a good clean sound . . . . I don't recall any pedals that do that.
The observation I want to point today is how easy it is to dial in the volume and MV. I started to comment on this before but I really want to expand on it a bit because its very nice how they work together.
The volume, once you get upword of 10 o'clock you start getting some OD working and by the time you get to 1 o'clock its getting it pretty good, wide open is fun. That said, your guitar may be different depending on everything from your cables, pedals and guitar but you get the idea I am talking about.
The Master Volume works great and what I was able to do in between songs was roll my MV up to 11 o'clock and bring the volume down 10 o'clock and get a nice thick clean setting. To get into OD territority the MV would go down to 9 o'clock and the volume up to 1 o'clock. Using my right hand picking I could get more or less drive depending on what I was playing but the volume between the clean and OD was pedictable.
So . . . . what I am saying is that when I brough the volume down by 2 number (I know, there aren't numbers on the amp) and the MV up by 2 numbers the relative volume stayed just about the same. This makes volume adjust very nice because you can quickly adjust from sound check to live with out a lot of fuss. After all, we all know that "nothing" ever changes from sound check right? Like the drummer never drops his brushes and picks up his 2b's right? lol
Anyway, one more reason I like the amp, its very easy to dial in the drive you want as the MV and Volume work pretty linear together. Those of you who own Antidotes and Remedy's know that dialing in your gain can be tricky with the high/low controls (its worth the effort but it can be tricky, especially on the fly).
more of my 2 cents
God bless,
Todd
