I've seen talk on the forum of different versions of the Maz18 (NR), and I was wondering what the differences are between them, and which one I've got. Mine's got a U serial no, so I think it's 2010. It's got the attached AC cord. It's got 4 and 8 ohm outputs.

I've got a "U" serial number 18 NR, as well. Mine also has the attached cord, 4 & 8 outputs, red plastic on/off lamp (not the screw-off jewel style) and the faceplate is more brown-ish (not black). Mine does have the footswitchable "tone stack bypass" mod, but it looks more like a factory mod, and not integraged into the rear faceplate like the other controls on back.
The newer (+2011, I think?) ones were some of the first to be UL certified (I think?). They have the detachable cord, screw-off jewel lamp, 4/8/16-ohm outputs, "tone stack bypass" mod became standard, and a newer graphic faceplate. If there were major circuit changes, I haven't heard of 'em--although, technically it's a different output circuit because it's a newer transformer with the added 16-ohm tap.

Yeah, mine also seems to have the eq bypass as an afterthought - the label for the foot switch socket is just stuck on rather than printed. But then so is the label for one of the fuses.
Anyway, is there any difference in tone between versions, or just features?

The ones with the EQ bybass sticker on the back we retrofitted with that modification. So they sound just as good as the new ones...ask me...I own one!!!! Now the EQ bypass comes standard. It is a mod that doesn't affect the tone of the amp....until you engage it, and then it can be an old one or a new one...they should sound pretty much the same.

Mine has an O . I don't know which year it is from but I know that it doesn't have a detached power chord, no eq bypass, 4 & 8 ohms, effect loop.
