I have a shot a t a local big box for a red KT45 head... They have it at $1299.00, I can probably talk it down to 1000.00-1050.00 because it's been on the floor so long. Naturally I'd test it out thoroghly first, but the question is, is $1000.00-1100.00 a decent enough price, or should I just hang back?
I'd be selling an odball Maz 38 Studio Lead with a loop and reverb to finance. Not a trade, but I'd sell on the Bay or in the Forum...
Any opinions on the KT vs the Maz are appreciated. I'm looking to get something akin to a bigger scarier Carmen Ghia thing happening here...

I'd call a grand fair....not a steal, for sure, but I've noticed that $1000 is the general going price for that amp. I stalked eBay for one for months before I found my combo.
I'm not quite sure the KT is comparable tone-wise to the Ghia at all....EL34 vs. EL84s, KT has the EF86 front end, etc.
The Mazerati is the amp designed to be a louder Ghia, so if that is your aim, check that out too. But not to shun the KT, which is a real beast if you can crank it.

I just paid $1150 for mine. A bit high some will say, but I wanted it and do not regret it AT ALL.
That said, After owning the larger majority of the Doc's amps, IMO the Route 66 is the Ghia's bigger fatter sibling. Call me crazy what with the diff tubes, etc, but if you search on here you'll see that Madison agrees and he too has owned his share of Z's, and I think it was Lorossco that agreed as well.
Now, if that KT is not to your liking I would love a chance at a second KT45, as of right now it hit's the tone that drives me over the top squarely on the head. BUT..and I've said this repeatedly since I got mine, this amp (KT45) is NOT FOR EVERYONE IMO, YMMV, etc.

If you get it for $1050 Im sure you will have no problem in selling it for close to the same price. I'd love a red one if you get my drift amigo!

See if the Guitar Center in Naperville IL will ship internationally. She's red and I don't have any claim... Right now I'm thinking Mazerati, really anyway... I fear the 66 ghost note issue and should probably just hang back and wait for something to show up on the Bay... I used a friend's Prescription ES, and I don't know if it was the EF86 in it, but it was just too crazy for me.. The volume was INSANE (great if you play places where you legitimately open things up, but most places the Ghia hits 9:00 and the leader begins complaining bitterly)... KT may be the same...

Thanks for letting me know who has the red KT45 TJ'
Karma for you for that one............
Theres a black Mazerati head for sale on Ebay right now that looks pristine, it's currently running at $744 with 6 or so days to go. Might be worth considering.
Anyway, good luck if you decide on that one, you obviously like the sound of EL84's and with a 5ar4 tube rectifier and very sparse layout like the Ghia the mazerati could be a louder gigging addition to your gear arsenal.
Keep on pickin'

Also, George: That KT's been there for about 10 months, so they're probably a little hot to be rid of it (these characters are nuts sometimes... I bought a pristine Rivera R55 for $269.00 because it had been on the floor too long...)... It has a $1299.00 US pricetag, and Jeremy, the guy I talked to, sounded like he'd go about 200.00-250.00 lower. Dunno how likely it is for you, but it's there and I think they'll deal.
Thanks for the karma, and good luck. If I knew some way to broker the deal and be sure the amp was 300 perfect I'd offer to try to work something out for you...

I think 1000-1100 is a reasonable price for a used one. That is depending on the condition and the tubes that come with.

Any GUITAR CENTRE have never been keen on shipping internationally. Every time they advertise on ebay the seem to stipulate that they wont ship internationally. There is a black one on Ebay right now,he says he won't ship internationally either but i haven't emailed to ask him. I think i might go extend my credit card and get in touch with the Guitar Centre in Naperville. IL and take it from there.
BTW: Holy Schmolly' DOC66 I'm seriously drooling over your list of gear there man! You sound like you got enough stuff to open up a Guitar centre of your own!
Thanks for your help.
