Picked up a maz18 NR combo last night. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with it.
What I did notice was that the previous owner had a jumper cable bridging the effect send & return.
Is this a thing?
I found a lot of noise from the amp which disappeared when I disconnected the jumper. The amp obviously works fine without it. Any idea what this guy was trying to achieve?

If you don't use it it helps to reduce the problem of oxidation building up on the unused jacks and causing you problems. It's an old trick.

If you remove the humper and get static, de-ox the contacts inside. Prior owner probably had a little static. It's a minor issue and a very easy fix.

Well, I took the amp to a tech as I didn't think the amp was putting out it's full power, and it turned out to be dodgy jacks on the effects loop. So presumably the previous guy had used the jumper to get around that. Mystery solved.
