Although I never really fell out of love with it I've discovered two things that have made me love my Interstate more than ever.
1) Brake lite: it's been one of those things that I've meant to get for a while, but finally bit the bullet. I wish I had much, much sooner. It's so much easier than dealing with finding the right balance of gain pedals and amp settings - find a sound you like and then click until you're in the right range. Although 4 clicks sounds a little 'off', even 3 clicks sounds pretty fair.
2) Playing with a band: When I spend too much time playing by myself in the basement I sometimes get to thinking that my amp is too bright, too dirty, too clean, etc. Of course the answer to this is to use the amp for what it was made for - kicking out the jams with other musicians. I had began to worry that since the Route is so much thicker sounding than the Ghia, the amp that I've used exclusively for all but one of my shows with this band, that it might not cut the way the Ghia does. WRONG! My only regret (other than wishing I could do the amp more credit with my playing) is that I was better at volume swells with my pinky so I could play just with guitar and cord. Someday.
I've got a gig on Sunday in a park downtown so I'll be playing to lots of passersby if not actually an appreciative audience and I'll have the Route/Z-Best stack rocking. So glad I got that amp and so looking forward to turning it up.

The Route plus fuzz was heaven for me. Would clean up so nice with the guitar volume. It allowed me to play out with the amp at louder volumes.
I would love to try an Interstate. That was the amp I would drool over when I read my 2002 issue of Dream Machines-A Glam Guide To Exquisite Guitars, Amps, & Effects by Guitar Player.

Gigged yesterday with the Route 66 and the Z-Best. I kept the brake lite on one click, but probably could've gotten away with it bypassed as it was a loud outdoor stage. What fun! I think the next time I might just take the KTR off the board and have that as my only pedal. I really only needed it to help balance the output when I was splitting the bridge humbucker for some tele-ish tones and if I was a little more savvy I could've gotten away without a pedal at all. This amp just begs to be played out - I need more gigs!

It is one loud addictive beastie ! Yes, but I have to say I'm really thrilled by how you can get great drive sounds at various volume settings thanks to the fantastic preamp. Now I just have to twiddle my thumbs until I the next gig where I can roll it out.
