I just got a back up set of new JJ's to carry with my 2 heads, the RX ES and the Maz Jr. From rec thru to output, all new JJ. My guy i have been getting tubes from for some time now, had a couple of old Valvos he pulled from some old equipment. They tested up brand new so i got him to throw one in. I also got one of the new JJ EF806S to try out. No chance of getting a Miniwatt Dario like whats in it from around here so far. Ive still got the originals in and have not needed to replace yet, just needed some backups.
Question is, anyone tried the Valvo out? My guy said he tried it in a litlle 18 watter he had with an ef86 front end and put the JJ and a EH against it, and the Valve came up warmest and fullest.
Will give them a try when i get a chance, make sure they are all roadworthy. Interested in some valvo reports tho. CheerZ

Nice and clear and no excessive noise or microphonics.

I Have a couple of Apmerex labeled Valvo ef86's. I have tried them briefly in my Z28 to make sure they were good. I thought they sounded just fine. My current ef86 is a Mullard and didn't immmediately notice I was losing anything. I also have a Telefunken which I thought sounded good but more HiFi than the Mullard and the Valvo. I think I prefer the Valvo to the Telefunken. ArnieZ

I gigged it last nite with the valvo. What i thought sounded terrific at home ,was a bit bassy on stage. I had to keep bringin my bass down and bought it down on the RC booster as well. Didnt help that i was using the weber att. too. The highs were beautiful tho, chimey, sparkly very pretty tone, just needed a bit of doof doof removal. Funny the very thing that i liked about the valvo and disliked in the dario, works in reverse in different settings/ stages. Always amazes me what the room brings to the mix.
Cant wait till my airbrake arrives!

Spoke to some of the band that were out front when i was playin. Seems what sounded bassy on stage was clear as a bell out front. The Z best has such a long throw, right to the back of the hall, and nice tone too. You know you can get away with being a little loud if you have tone, and i got it with my Z!

DC here!
I switched out my Dario miniwatt EF86 for the British military I bought from "nitehawk55". I did the switch twice - because I did not hear any big difference between the two. ( my hearing is not what used to be - I suspect it never was ;D )
Annyway the second time I thought the "Route" sounded a bit cleaner & more mellow with the "Brit" tube - the Dario was a bit more aggressive and up front.
For the time beeing I run the "66" with the "Brittish" military EF86.
